2nd Trimester

When did you register?

Currently I am 20W4D, and I have no clue when to register. I am worried about registering too far in advance, just in case those things aren't available when I have the shower. And about the shower...in early may a family friend and her daughter said they would like to throw me a shower. However, they have not said one word about it since then! Should I say something to them? Anyways, I am thinking of a late September/early October shower. Is it to early to register?

Re: When did you register?

  • I registered right after my big ultrasound....not knowing if I was going to have a shower or not, but I figured either way it was a good check list for me to use to shop if I needed to..

  • according to The Bump checklist it says to do it at about 24 weeks I think.
  • I registered after my big ultrasound, so I think I was still 19weeks.
  • It's def. not too early. I started mine at 15 weeks and I just update it as things pop into my head or new things come up. You can always edit them online if items become unavailable. I'd rather have it ready to go now than wait til the week of my shower and do it!

  • We registered last weekend! I'll monitor it online to make sure nothing gets discontinued.

  • DH and I had planned on doing it after the big U/S but then got bizi with other stuff so we are going to register this friday hope its not so frustrating cuz there are so many choices at BRU.
  • I started when I found out if it was a boy or girl...

I would call and ask if the offer still stands, so you can start getting theminfo they need, like addresses.

  • We registered this past weekend--so 17 weeks.

I'm having my first shower at the end of August back in my hometown (12+ hours away). It's early, but it was really the only time that would work for me, my parents, and my friend that's hosting. So August it is. And since we live 2 hours away from the closest BRU, we decided to take advantage of the long holiday weekend to get things started. Plus it was DEAD in BRU on Saturday--much more tolerable than the usual weekend madness.

We registered for almost entirely gender neutral items so that we can use them for future kids. When we find out the sex tomorrow, we'll update online with a few gender specific items like bedding.

  • I started mine around 18 weeks... I still have some things to add but my shower won't be for awhile anyway so no one should be looking at the registry.  As long as you aren't registering for a lot of clothes you shouldn't have to worry too much about items being discontinued.

If they are family friends, could your mom or someone bring it up to them?  If someone in your family offered to help I'm sure they could get more details that way!

  • I started my registry last week. 2 days later, when I checked online, the store had already stopped carrying some of the items. With my wedding registry, I just kept an eye on it online, and picked out alternative items if things were discontinued/no longer available. That's what I plan to do with this registry as well. Plus, if some of my friends/family decide to shop early, they might be able to get the things I originally wanted before they potentially become unavailable. Not that I expect anyone to shop early, but it could happen!

  • I'm thinking of registering in august maybe after one of the classes we are going to take?!  Sister/Mom/Friends want to have a shower in September and MIL wants to have one in early October.
  • I don't think ?it's too early to register, we are having a December baby and I registered in May :)

    ?

  • I just registered. THe stuff at BRU changes SOOOO much. My shower is in a month so I know that the stuff I registered for will still be there.
