Re: ok so im taking the kids to the library..any recommendations on books?
I know you're not in florida, but here we have a program called Sunshine State Young Readers. It's kinda like Opera's book club for kids. Media specialist recommend stuff based on grade level and look for quality.

Not sure what her reading level is, but your DD might like the Ramona Quimby books. I loved them when I was a kid. She might also like some of the shorter story books like "where the wild things are."
DS might like some of the books that were written after a movie. Usually inside they have screen shots from the movie inside. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Apollo 13, but I know there are tons out there. A lot are geared towards kids even if the movie wasn't. He might also like a book called "Where the red fern grows." It's about a boy and his hunting dogs.
7 yo: Cam Jansen, or A-Z mysteries to be read aloud (they're both series, so if she likes one, you're good for a while!), something like Henry and Mudge to read on her own.
11 yo: Of course there's Harry Potter (though after book 3 they get a bit "mature"), Matt Christopher for sports books, The Series of Unfortunate Events, Artemis Foul series... all kinds of good stuff!
Not sure if your son has read the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" books but my 4th graders loved them. It's an easy fun read for the summer.
For the 7 year old, it depends on what kind of books she's reading, chapter or picture? Frindle is a fun easy chapter book. Fancy Nancy books are also a big hit with girls around this age.
Good luck!
Your son will love the Artemis Fowl books. Also, check out Eragon. It's long, but the kids in my class love it. Anything by Gary Paulsen is good. Jerry Spinelli writes very funny stories for that age group. Let me know if you want a longer list. I teach Reading to 12 and 13 year olds, so I have plenty of suggestions!
