How much BM do you put in your LO's bottles?
Avery was getting 4.5 oz three times a day but she is consistently not finishing the bottles - but she is also still using slow flow nipples - I wonder if she just get bored?
She doesn't seem hungry or unsatisfied.
But she still gets up at 4 am every morning to nurse.
Re: Working moms of 9+ month old babies...
DS was getting 2 bottles a day at the start of 9 months: the 1st of which was a mid-morning feeding and I had already reduced this particular bottle down to 2-3 oz. In the mid afternoon he gets a 5 oz bottle.
He seemed to be showing less and less interest in the mid-morning bottle, so by 9.5 months, I had our nanny drop that bottle and it was like nothing happened. That said, on the weekends and when I don't work, he likes to nurse during that time (which is just before he naps).
I should clarify that at lunch I nurse him, but on the occassions when I'm not home to nurse him at lunch, I would leave him a 4-5 oz bottle.
DD has rarely taken more than 4oz bottles. Sometimes I'll have a little extra in a bottle and she'll usually not finish the bottle if there is more. Around 7 months she started sleeping better and dropped from 3 bottles while I'm at work to 2 (she stays home with daddy during the day and sleeps in.) The amount in the bottle remained consistent. I am still nursing her once (occassionally twice) per night, but I don't mind because I think it has really helped to keep my supply up.
The 4am waking could be habit and not actual hunger. Most people find out whether it is habit or hunger by doing some form of CIO. I know my DD doesn't actually need to nurse at night because some nights she just barely has a few swallows before going back to sleep and once in a while she has gone back to sleep before I get to her room. Like I said, I don't mind the night nursing.
If she's consistently satisfied with less in the bottle, I'd start sending smaller bottles.
