Can I get on the plane early because I'm pregnant (you know, when they ask for people with small children/disabilities?). I'm highly thinking that this might be a good thing for me, as I hate getting pushed around!!!
I haven't done that, yet. Unless I was really uncomfortable, my flight was really late which resulted in my standing around for hours or I wasn't feeling well, I woudln't board early. That's just me. But you do what you feel is best for you!
I would try to board LAST! Unless you are lucky enough to fly 1st class, the less you send cramped up in the seats the less chance you have of getting dehydrated, leg cramps, and blood clots!
Just watch what carry on's you bring so you make sure you have enough room, and try to get an aisle seat.

I agree. I would make sure to drink lots of water before boarding, and try to get an aisle seat, so you can easily get to the bathroom.
I would say it depends who you are flying on. ?If it is Southwest you would want to board early to get an aisle seat. ?Otherwise like pp said the earlier you board the longer you are stuck sitting in your seat. ?To me that is worse. ?But if you really want to board early. ?If you think you really need special boarding tell them "you need extra time getting down the jetway".
If you board early it is because you need extra time or down the jetway you cannot sit in the exit row. ?It defeats the purpose of being willing and "able" to perform the duties necessary. ?So in that case you would have to choose which one you want. ?
There was a discussion last week about sitting in the emergency row. ?A pregnant woman should not lift a 40-50 pound emergency hatch. ?That would make her unable to perform the duties required. ?Not to say she is disable. ? Some airline persons may or may not enforce this or think of it. ?But as a pregnant women I would not lie and say I was willing and able.
As a person who volunteers with people with disabilities and an airline employee I get really frustrated with people who take advantage of boarding early for convenience. ?It is the people with actual disabilities that would love to be able to run onto (as apposed to wheeled onto) the plane with the "normal" boarding process with no assistance. ?Like the old saying goes be careful what you wish for. ? Just my .02 sorry if it turned to a rant. ?I wont start on handicap parking(:
I flew last weekend and it never even occurred to me to ask to board early. I don't really see an advantage to doing this. And people are pretty nice to pregnant women, I doubt anyone will be rough with you while boarding.

Luckily I'm not flying southwest, and we have our seats already. And one is on the aisle. Sorry DH, your getting the middle unless you bounce up and down every five seconds!
As for handicap parking-I totally hear you there. My dad has MS and rarely can find a handicap spot because teenagers are dropping their friends off, etc. Most of the time, if he is feeling good, he will park in regular parking, but sometimes he gets a little fuzzy and needs the handicap parking...
I won't consider boarding early unless I'm just not feeling good. Thanks for the point of view, daisy. I don't consider it a rant at all!
I flew last week and did not board early just because I didn't want to sit there for any longer than necessary. Just make sure you drink lots of water, I felt a little dehydrated, and that you have plenty of snacks handy.
While I did not ask for priority boarding, I did make sure to let the flight attendant know I was pregnant. At the time I was still suffering from terrible m/s and she was great about getting me crackers & ginger ale. Another huge bonus was that our flight was majorly delayed and we surely were going to miss our connection. Because she knew I was pregnant and could not make a mad dash for the next plane, she called ahead and had a shuttle meet DH & I as soon as we landed which drove us across the tarmac to our connecting flight. Without her help, there is no way we would have made a 9 minute run to another terminal.
I'd say don't milk it, but if you have genuine discomfort, let someone know in case something comes up and you do need extra assistance.
Neon, Thanks for understanding. ?I do get a little sensitive to things of that nature. ?You would not believe some people I see. ?They need extra time then they literally run down the jetway(: ?Or need an aisle chair ie can't walk at all.....THEN walk off the plane!!!!!!!!!! ?But I will leave it at that
Shelby great point. ?Absolutely let someone know. ?The fact is you will need more to drink or HAVE to go to the bathroom at an inappropriate time. ?Most of the time people want to help. ?I have learned being pregnant sometimes you have to admit you need help!!! And then accept it!!
