has anyone already gone through this? i'm just wondering what to expect. i've heard that you have to drink something and then sit around for an hour. i'm supposed to go get this done sometime before my next appt on the 28th.

Re: glucose test
I haven't done it this time yet, but I have done it before. ?It's not that bad. ?The hardest thing for me was not eating, b/c with Layla I still had morning sickness when I had my test.?
They let me drink the stuff at home and then show up around 45 minutes later so I didn't have to sit there and wait, but that probably depends on your dr/hospital. ?
i also have mine today...
i got to bring the drink home, too... so i guess that cuts down on time spent waiting around at the office.
I've done the one hour and the three hour (at 11 weeks because of a family history of diabetes) and it really is no big deal. ?(I was terrified before hand since I didn't know anything about it and I'm afraid of needles). ?For the one hour, they make you drink half a cup of glucose and then draw a blood sample at an hour. ?At mine they had 4 different flavors to choose from-I'd recommend the orange. ?The glucose isn't that bad. ?It's just flat pop.
For the three hour (since I failed my 1 hour), they do the same thing but draw your blood first, then make you drink an entire cup of glucose and then draw your blood once an hour for the next three hours. ?It sounds worse then it is. ?It was just boring. ?I took a book and my husband to keep me company.?
??Of course, I then failed my three hour, but don't worry about it. ?Most people do not. ?I'm going to the nutritionist tomorrow to learn how to handle it.
