Pissed about belly remarks from fam

"Looks like your getting fat...make sure you keep in shape so you loose that baby weight bc some women just let themselves go." -grandpa

"Looks like your getting a little tummy there <chuckle chuckle> and your only going to get bigger <chuckle chuckle>." -grandma

Arg! shut the heck up! So your both really old and think you can say whatever you want...not cool.

    Older people just say such things. I think they feel that they just can say anything!!

    My sister in law's mother, who is very nice, said to me "other than the belly, you are staying pretty and skinny! That's great. Not many people do it. You must work out all the time. Nothings worse than a fat mother" (she isn't the skinniest lady...) I just was like...ohhh kay!

    When I was pregnant with my first child I went to see my mom at work and told her I was finally showing.  She said i wasn't showing it was just probably fat.  Luckily my brother and my husband were there because I got really quiet trying not to cry right there.  My feelings were so hurt bc i wasn't fat, i weighed 100lbs when I found out I was pregnant.  Then later on when I was 7 months pregnant my mom said my butt was getting wide.  Normally comments like that don't bother me but when your pregnant everything bothers you.

    I've found that older people lack a "filter" and often don't edit what they say. I remember my great-aunt announcing that I used to be a "total brat" at my bridal shower, in front of all my guests as I was opening my gifts. Just clear out of the blue. It was very hurtful and more than a little awkward. And the other night, one of my neighbors who's in her 70's said to me at a neighbor's 4th of July party, "Oh, I didn't know you were pregnant. When I saw you walk in, I just thought you'd put on some weight."

    I know it's hard, but just try to brush it off. They often have no idea how rude they're even being.

    It's not just old ppl either - I think "family" think they have carte blanche to say what they want b/c they are "family". It's bull.
