Baby Showers

Men at baby showers?

what do you think about having some not many men at my baby shower? My husband insists he is there along with my brother, father, and some of my husbands friends. He also wants to have a cigar roller..lol

Re: Men at baby showers?

  • We are having a coed shower so I think it depends on that. I think a cigar roller is a great idea. We are doing coed games as well.

  • I say go for it! We are going to a coed shower next month for a friend plus my sister in laws shower is coed. They are both bbqs. I don't think any real "rules" apply these days. It is your party, party with who you would want to be there. I think the girls only rule is kinda dumb anyways. I mean the men in your life should be just as excited as the women in your life. They should be there to help celebrate. And if it is just a handful, have them sit at a table togerther in the back or at the bar.

PS. Love the cigar roller, my hubby would want to come just for that!

Ours is going to be co-ed. the guys can join whatever they want, but most will probably be busy playing video games. Yeah they are all pretty much gaming nerds.Confused

  • I think it depends on the theme.  We had a co-ed shower that way really laid back...it was a BBQ.  But my in-laws had a shower that they insisted on hubby going to.  He was the only guy, and got really borred, really fast.  So it depends on the theme and style.
  • I think it is fine to have a co-ed shower. My first shower was co-ed. It was a lot of fun.

  • Co-ed is fine; just make sure whoever offers to host it knows that you'd like to do a co-ed one from the start. Some hostesses feel unprepared for that since it tends to make the guest list larger (although, you're talking about a very select few guys that you'd invite, so I doubt your hostess will have a problem accommodating them).
  • If it is cool with host for for it...I was at a shower recently thrown by the father-to-be's family and the father-to-be, grandfather-to-be and uncles-to-be were all there - and they had a blast and were hilarious.

  • We had a co-ed shower and I loved it!
  • I think it's a great idea! I am hoping for the same thing at mine. My husband's friends have been my friends for the last 12 years and they are a huge part of our lives!

  • I think its your choice and your hosts choice. I've been to co-ed showers and the host just altered some of the games to get the guys involved.
  • great idea especially having a cigar roller. i gave my sister a co-ed baby shower.
  • I think its wonderful to have a co-ed shower! My daughter will be 3 on Saturday, and we are expecting our second, and we had a coed shower with many couples and my brother and father as well. It was really fun, the guys did a baby bottle drinking contest..some guys even put beer in it...lol gross! but its very nice, and makes the dad-to-be involved, and feel like he is apart of everything.

  • I think your husband, your borther, father and friends need to have their OWN get-together and not crash yours.  Unless...of course you are making it a co-ed shower (then all the husband's of all the women you are inviting would be invited as well).   I've heard that some guys have a "guys party" with the cigars, etc. while the women have the shower.  Um...I don't think cigar smoking would be a very healthy environment for a pregnant woman.
  • I had a blast at my co-ed shower and it got DH more involved in the baby stuff...just make sure the invitations say its co-ed...
  • THAT IS A GREAT IDEA MY SHOWER WILL BE COED ALL 7 OF MY BROTHERS COUSINS AND REALLY CLOSE MALE FRIENDS. I AM GOING TO STEAL YOUR IDEA AND GET A CIGAR ROLLER
  • Why not let them have a 'shower' at the same time? I don't know how intersted they are in the shower part, but if they just want an excuse to get together, they can do their own thing for a while. Or else, have a coed... I am, and some of the guys are really excited about baby stuff, it's cute
  • I think the co-ed shower is a great idea!  My HB doesn't think that guys should be there, that it is just for the women! haha  But I'm making him go, I really like the cigar roller idea, where do you get something like that?
