Would you let DC be alone with MJ if he were alive?

Flame away, but I wouldn't, even though he wasn't formally convicted in a court of law.

  • He was a hell of an entertainer and his music was, in a lot of ways, the soundtrack to my childhood.  But being in touch with reality did not seem to be his strong suit so HELL NO.

That being said I wouldn't let, like, Britney Spears or anyone else who I wasn't 100% sure knew what the hell was going on babysit either.

  • Nope.

  • Fuckno!  To be fair, I don't think there's a single celebrity I'd let be alone with my kids, but I think MJ was at least sexually inappropriate with children and at most an unconvicted child molester.
  • No ma'am not even long enough for me to go to the bathroom

  • I really don't see any reason that I'd have to leave my kid alone with any celeb, let alone MJ?  So in that sense, no.  If we were like friends or something, um maybe??? I'm not really in the practice of leaving my child with strangers, though.
  • No way.  Chris Rock has a pretty funny bit about just that question.

I appreciate everything MJ has done in the entertainment field.  I do believe he's one of the greatest performers ever (even if everything past 1985 is not my kind of music).  But do we have to call him a saint now?  The man had serious problems.

  • NO WAY! Just because he wasn't convicted doesn't mean he is innocent!?
  • which strangers (celebrity or not) would any of us leave our kids alone with?
  • No. Even if he was 100% proven innocent, I still think the guy, while truly an amazing talent, didn't show he could make rational decisions that would be needed to take care of my daughter?

Exactly. This hypothetical question has been asked so many times over the last 2 weeks that I just have to roll my eyes. The list of people I wouldn't leave DS with is about, oh, 1,000 times longer than people I would leave DS alone with.

  • No way in H E double hockey sticks! I still want to believe he is innocent.  I may be wrong but that is what I want to believe.  It doesn't matter I would still not leave him alone with my DD EVER!

  • I hate posts like this. There's no point in it but to re-hash all the supposed?negative?things about this man, let him rest in peace already....
  • Ya, right after OJ.
  • This is an asinine question.

I also wouldn't let my kid alone with Angelina Jolie, with Bill Cosby, with Sally Struthers. Why? Because I don't actually know these people, and have no concept at all of who they are and what they do in their real lives.

  • I wouldn't let DD be alone with anyone I didn't personally know, so...no.

Thank you.  You both took the words right out of my mouth.
