I had BW done twice and numbers didn't double. RE said if they don't double by the next time I come in (which I will be exactly 4w to the day), then chances are ectopic PG.
Has anyone experienced low HCG levels upon conception and been diagnosed with having an ectopic PG?
Re: low HCG 4w/ectopic PG
They always called it a suspected ectopic, because I had already bled and they couldn't find anything on u/s (although with such low betas, I don't know what they were looking for).
My betas were 15, 21, 26, and then 100 but only after a week of waiting. I got the methotrexate shot.
I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with this.
I have had a couple of different scenarios:
I had an HCG level that started at 13, but did not properly rise. It went up in small increments and then stalled. This was not an ectopic. Eventually the beta, after a month, went back to 0 on its own.
When I did have an ectopic, all of my betas were beautiful because unfortunately, it was a twin pregnancy- so we did not catch the ectopic part until I was in the emergency room about to go into surgery.
Good luck to you... I hope it is not ectopic. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
My RE termed my situation a "presumed ectopic/biochemical" pregnancy. I think most of the time, they can't see anything in the uterus or the tube. They brought me in for an u/s at 6w0d, and the next day I went in for methotrexate injections. A week later, my beta was negative. At 7dp5dt my beta was 16, then 48 hours later it was 23, then four days later it was 40, and finally it was 48 a few days after that.
So sorry for what you're going through. I had positive (but very light) HPTs and was just devastated to find out that it wasn't viable.
I am so sorry that you are going through this!
My hcg wasn't considered low at first and it doubled after 48 hours but then on the 3rd beta, it barely went up at all. At that point they suspected a regular m/c. I went in for an u/s and they couldn't see anything in my uterus or tubes. They waited a few days and took more blood, my hcg kept going up just not as fast as it should. Thats when they suspected ectopic. I went in for an u/s 4 days after the 1st and it was clear as day, growing in my left tube. I guess the tip off is if hcg rises slowly or if it kinda stalls then rises.
I hope that everything is ok with your situation but if it doesn't end up being good, please feel free to contact us.
Good luck!
I'm so sorry that you're going through this! Hopefully your next number doubles! Hugs.
I had a probable ectopic in Jan. My initial beta was 16. Then it jumped to 79, then 700 and then 800. My RE said that it's often ectopic when your initial beta is low, jumps, and then plateaus like mine did. I never had any bleeding but they caught it very early. We never saw anything on u/s but RE said that ectopics tend to hide on u/s. The morning that I was given methotrexate to end the ectopic, I had some pain in my right flank. I always wondered if it was related to the ectopic.
Good luck. Hugs to you!
