Recommend an RE

We have been TTC for some time now with no success.  I know it's time to seek medical advise but I am very hesitant about it.  I was really hoping that this would happen naturally for us.

If you or someone you know has been seen by a South Central Pa  Reproductive Endocrinologist, who was the doctor and what were your likes and dislikes about them?  If you'd prefer not to share on this board then please email me at tripplebe@hotmail.com.  TIA

I'm sure you've done this already, but have you had blood work done to make sure everything is fine with you and dh has had a sperm count/mobility test done? I know that seems logical , but some people may forget going that route first.

We had tried from June 2007. When we didn't get pregnant after a year,I got tested and was told I'm fine. We were getting ready to have Dh tested, after a move as well. As it turned out, we just were  not syncing up. When I thought I was ovulating I wasn't. Our timing had just been off.

I know many ladies on here have gone through specialists to pregnant. I just want to make sure you've tried the easier options first.

  • Actually I haven't had any blood work done, nor has my has my husband had an SA.  When I inquired about checking to see if everything was in working order my gyn she said that she would not do any testing, but would refer me to an RE.  She said that the testing through Gettysburg Hospital wasn't up to par and and an RE would retest anyway.  Honestly, I think she was just didn't want to be bothered.   Of course my age (39) may have something to do with it as well.

I have been testing with OPK's and my cycles are like clockwork so I'm thinking timing isn't the issue.

This is the second gyn I've been to and unfortunately in the Gettysburg area the OB/GYNs all work from the same office.  I have never been happy with this office although I continued to go there for my yearly visits because of the convenience.  Can you recommend a good gyn who would do preliminary testing?

  • I cannot personally recommend any REs however several friends have gone to Hershey and have had good success, I'm sure there are some closer to you, but it is an option.

I actually had my testing done through my regular Dr who sent me to the health campus for the blood draw. They knew we had been trying and I had talked several times to them about it. When I told him that we had been trying for a year without success and I was 34 I think at the time, He agreed it was a good idea to start with. That way we could narrow down if it was an issue with me or with him. And then go from there.

  • If you have been trying for a yr, I would encourage you to start the ball rolling with an RE.  Don't worry that you or your DH hasn't had any testing- the RE will most likely want to do their own anyway- no sense in wasting time.  Good luck!

  • We worked with the RE's at Hershey Med.  To be honest I wasn't thrilled with Dr. Dodson at first b/c he's to the point and can come across as a little abrasive but in the end I trusted his opinion the most.  He was confident in his decisions and that made me more confident in our treatments.

I wish you all the best!
