3rd Trimester

another measuring behind question...

because I skipped the others, since I wasn't measuring behind before!

I was measuring 31cm at 30 weeks and now at 32 weeks I am STILL measuring 31 cm. What's up with that? ?OB said it was fine, and will just see how it is next time. ?I guess I should expect a growth spurt maybe?

I've been measuring exactly on track before this.?

Re: another measuring behind question...

  • I'll wait for the responses as well since I've been measuring behind since they started measuring me at 24wks.  I go again on Friday and can't imagine I've "caught up".  I hope I'm do for a growth spurt as well although my MW is predicting a small baby, as baby is on the low of the average curve.

  • I am measuring behind all the time. About a couple of weeks behind but the baby is measuring right on track. My OB isn't concerned, neither am I.

  • I read it is fine if it is consistent, but ?I just thought it was odd to have no growth in 2 weeks. ?He is sitting differently now, so maybe that is all it is. ?

  • My OB says within 2 cm is fine.  Most babies go through growth spurts (just like people).  Don't worry unless your OB tells you to.
  • It's normal for babies to grow and stall growth in spurts.  Measuring just 1 cm behind isn't usually cause for concern, and fundal height can be pretty inaccurate.  I've been measuring behind since they started checking.  Yesterday I measured 30 cm at 32 weeks. Because I'm still within a normal range and I've had pretty consistent growth, they aren't worried right now. I will be having a routine growth scan at 35 weeks anyway, so we'll be able to make sure nothing's going on then.
  • I was told that there is a range and as long as you are within a couple weeks, you have nothing to worry about.
  • This is all reassuring...I've measured at 34 and a half at my 35 week appointment and at my 36 week appointment.  Even though my doctor told me not to worry and that it probably just meant I "wasn't going to have an eight pound baby boy", I am still stressing just a little bit about it. I'm hoping for a bit of growth at next week's visit.
