The first thing I remember this morning is sputtering and coughing like I had just aspirated something. I thought it was a bug (ick!!) but after blowing my nose and coughing for another 5 minutes, I think maybe my stomach contents just spilled into my throat. I know hormones make our esophageal flaps weaker, but god! Drowning on my own bile!?! Not cool.
Anyone else?
Re: woke up choking!?!
welcome to my world at least 2-3 times a week! reflux is so fun isn't it....sigh....
It was happening almost every night to me until I got on Zantac and propped my pillows. It is much better now the baby has dropped some, though!
It's happened to me, too. There's not much that can be done for this... just take an acid reducer (ask your OB first) like Zantac or an Rx one (I take Tagamet) and don't eat at least 4 hours prior to bedtime.
Also cut back on acidic, fried, spicy foods. It helps.
Good luck!

Acid reflux can be really scary! Take a zantac or pepcid (whatever your doctor recommends) and you should be fine!
Hahaha. I hope you're not planning on cosleeping, BabyMaker, for Cletus's sake. LOL.
This happened to me last night too!!
I woke up choking and coughing almost like i swallowed wrong. I shot up as best i can these days and rolled over on to the floor over the trash can coughing like i was gonna puke with nothing in my tummy to come up. so awful!! and my sudden jump up and landing on the floor hurt my guts so bad. not cool at all.
yes! i've woken up snoring a few times because i've been dropping my chin towards my chest when sleeping at night...but a few weeks ago, i woke up choking and coughing too, and it was very scary! i try not to eat too many things before going right to bed...my ob suggested i eat a few healthy snacks before bed, but we'll see...i don't want to wake up choking on my own stuff again!
