Baby Showers

need ideas...TIA

So I am having another boy and since coworkers who were not around for the first baby shower are throwing one I was thinking for friends and family I could have a meet the baby party. So I have some questions:

How early is too early after baby is born?

Who should be invited?

Do you have games and party favors like a shower?

Thanks for any help you can give.

  • We had an open house the weekend after we came home.  VERY casual. It was really more to have a set time that people could come over and meet DS.

My take- no games or favors.  It's NOT a shower and the more "formal" you make it, the more it may put people on the spot if they didn't bring a gift.

Keep it casual and low key.

  • I had some friends who did an open house called "Pie Day". Everyone brought a pie. My friends served coffee and drinks and had ice cream ready to go as well as starting out the table with the first couple of pies. It was so fun.

  • I'd say too early is when you're still too tired or adjusting to the new addition. I know a lot of people have big gatherings too soon after baby is born and not only does LO sleep through it, mom is so tired she can't enjoy spending time with everyone. We're going to have our meet the LO at least two weeks after just so I can be sure I'll be feeling well enough to really enjoy it.
