the name emma

Is the name really that popular?  I like the name for DD, but it is always number 1.  I teach and in six years, I have only had two Emmas.  What do you think?

Our other names are Hannah and Olivia, all three would probably have the middle name Grace.  Our last name is Italian and has three syllables ending with an "a" think Costella.

Re: the name emma

  • I only know two little girls named Emma. I love the name, Emma Grace has a nice ring to it. Hannah is nice too.

  • I love all three names!

I do have to say that Emma seems to be becoming really popular.  My good friend just named her daughter Emma and I know of a few other Emmas.  The girls I know aren't school age yet, so that might be one reason that you haven't seen many at school.  If you really like the name though, I wouldn't let the popularity of it stop you.

  • I don't let the popularity get in the way at all!  You like what you like :-)  I like Emma (and the other names you listed)!

  • I think it is becoming more popular but I agree with the pp's- if you like it, go for it!  It's a classic name (it was my grandmother's middle name) so I think it will weather the years:)  I love it, it's super pretty (that is my cousin's name).  I like Olivia and Hannah, too, but I like Emma better (and I think emma is less popular than those two).
  • Love all 3 names!!  Too bad there's already a Hannah and an Emma in our family.
  • We have an Emma who is 7. She has only had one schoolmate named Emma and she is a year younger.

I also agree, if you like the name , go for it!!
