Baby in a UHaul???

Does anyone know if a UHaul truck would comfortably (or legally) seat 2 adults and an infant carseat in the cab?  I've never rented one and DH's family seems to think this would be an adequate travel method for our 30 hour cross-country move.  I, on the other hand, am not so sure.  Any opinions???  TIA.

  • regardless of legal/safe/fitting..the thought of 30 hours...

  • I don't think so. (The baby would need to be on the outside by the door in order for the seat belt to hold the car seat in. That means the two adults will be mushed together. That doesn't sound like fun. Or safety first.)

  • NO.  not just because it's not safe, but because 30 hours in a car with a baby might be my definition of hell.
  • A. yes its legal to have a carseat in the front seat of a truck.

    B. 30 hours, oh helllllz no

  • I have rented a Uhaul before and they have 2 bucket seats.  No bench seat.

And 30 hrs?  Holy shitt.  I say you and LO fly and DH can drive the truck.

  • I'm looking at them right now to move and most have 2-3 bucket seats. You would be squished and miserable, plus i wouldn't put LO in the front like that.

That's what I was thinking.  I don't feel like riding in the middle of a bench seat for 3 days.

This will be the 5th time I've driven from KS to CA or vice versa.  I absolutely don't ever want to do it again....ever.

This was my recommendation.  I was laughed at.  I don't understand why everyone thinks it's a good idea to drive our child halfway across the country in a cramped moving van, but me.
