The post below about IUDs reminded me that I still haven't decided what form of birth control to use after DS is born. I'll discuss with my doctor, but what did you girls use (or planning to use)? Does it make a difference if you're BFing?
I got the Mirena IUD placed in 6 wks post delivery. I love it!!!! I had some spotting for about 6 wks and then it stopped & I haven't had any spotting or period since. I have not noticed any other side effects.
I used the mini pill. Zero sex drive while I was on it. (Partly due to the pill; partly due to bfing.) But - it was lovely not having a period for another year.
Although I am in the minority, we (when I am eventually allowed to have sex again) will use condoms. Not really into the pill and condoms are much cheaper and I find them not so bad.

Totally unreliable, I know, but I don't really want to be on the mini pill and I'm allergic to condoms. The only piece of mind I have is my doc telling me that there is only a 1% chance of me getting pg while nursing. When I had my annual last month the u/s showed peacefully sleeping ovaries, so I'm not too worried about it.
i did the mini pill but hated it and had marathon periods. so now we use the oh-so-reliable rhythm method. since we mostly abstain, it works for us! heh.

i actually think the mini-pill might have contributed to my starting my period just 2 months post...
Condoms. The P&P or Rythym method would never work for us - when we don't use protection, I get pregnant. I don't always stay pregnant but that's a whole 'nother issue! I never did well on the pill at all.
I'm considering Mirena after this baby is born for a short term and then I'd like to ask DH to get snipped. I haven't exactly discussed this with him yet.
Re: What form of BC did you use after birth?
This, though I am considering the paraguard (sp?) IUD because it's non-hormonal.

Hehehee.
None!!! Which resulted in baby #2!
I think I'll try the pill or mini-pill this time, depending on if and how long I breastfeed.

this. And we're becoming more sure that DC #2 won't be that far off in our future, so we don't want anything permanent just yet.
