traveling - snap & go or umbrella stroller

We're going to florida at the end of the month and i can't decide whether to take the snap & go or umbrella stroller. if we took the snap & go, we'd gate check the car seat & stroller. but then we'd have to use the car seat as her stroller and i just worry about how hot it'll be pushing her around outside in the carseat.

if we take the umbrella stroller we'll check the car seat. my concern with only using the umbrella stroller if she wants to nap in the stroller -  she doesn't in the umbrella but loves to sleep in her car seat/snap & go. and will i miss the convenience of just taking the carseat and sticking it in the snap & go.

we're not doing theme parks or anything, just typical out and about shopping, visiting friends, the beach.

which would you do? i'm sure i'm making this into a much bigger deal than need be, but i always do that!

Re: traveling - snap & go or umbrella stroller

  • I'd take the snap-n-go. ?The idea of checking our carseat has always made me nervous. ?I've seen how they throw around luggage, and I don't want our carseat thrown around like that too. ?Of course, they have opportunity to abuse it between the gate and the cargo hold if you gate-check it, but somehow that doesn't bother me as much.

The other good thing about having the carseat with you at the gate is that if the plane happens to have any empty seats (you can ask at the gate when you check in), then they'll often let you take the carseat on so your little one can have a seat of her own on the plane.

Whatever you decide, have a great time on your vacation!?

  • I'd snap and go.  It's much more useful and versatile.  And you can wear her in the airport and use the snap and go/carseat to store things in as you push it through the airport.
  • At 6 months old...I would do the snap n go.  I took dd to Kentucky at 11 months old and the umbrella stroller worked great.  I checked her car seat and took the umbrella stroller on the plane to use when we had a layover.  It was perfect.
  • I would take the snap and go.  I think it will be easier - especially as you are out and about.
