There are so many women all of The Nest/The Bump with pregnant tummy pictures in their signatures and for the most part they are really cute!
BUT sometimes a woman makes the very bold choice to post in her signature a very burgeoning belly while she's wearing very little (i.e. a bit of lingerie). I think because it's permanently in what ever thread she's posting in, it makes me uncomfortable.
Am I being a prude or is it too much to ask for bellys to be covered?
PS- I mean no offense to our Austin mommies who like to sport naked tummies.

I suppose it depends on what mom has on. Lingerie = not what I want to see (although I do believe PG bellies can be beautiful and sexy, I don't want to see a stranger's PG dolled up belly), but in a swimsuit or even just a pulled up shirt I don't mind it.
It's all in context for me.... I don't want to see most nesties in lingerie whether they are PG or not!
I'm fine with seeing bare bellies, but bikini stubble?!?! EW!!
Eh. They don't really bother me. But I'm used to seeing them on the tri boards all the time. I think pregnant bellies are beautiful. :-)
(please note that this does not apply to that chick who posted in her undies where you could see her stubble/hair. That was puke-tastic. But it was the crotch view, not the tummy, that grossed me out.)
I had my bare belly in my siggy for a while, but I (of course) don't think it was an inappropriate picture. Hope it didn't offend anyone.
I was wearing a black sports bra and a long black skirt though -- not anything skimpy, and I can assure you there was no visible stubble from my nether regions or elsewhere.
There are some bump pics that make me go "hmmmm?" though. ?

This one does freak me out, though:
I thought about your sig pic when I posted this and I hoped you wouldn't think I meant you (I thought you looked adorable!)
I had seen a girl's sig pic with her covering her breasts (no bra on) and in a pair of lacy undies. She was about 30 weeks. I think it was a photo, maybe, taken with her DH in mind, but I kind of wished she'd kept it between themselves or at least in her Bio only.
I don't think I would have been as taken aback if she had on a bikini. But maybe I'm also jealous that my naked PG tummy would never look that good. lol
I remember yours, and it falls under the "cute and understated" belly criteria I prefer.

oh, right!
WARNING!!!
I usually like all the belly pics, bare or not, but I saw one of a woman in lingerie that looked like a boudoir photo. I wouldn't have minded at all in context, but I was surprised to see it as a signature pic, that shows up everywhere.
I fortunately missed any stubble-showings
Thanks rssn....I spit my water out all over my desk. HA! Ghetto fabulous!
I'm glad that rssn's pic is showing up as a red x, though I did have to see the stubble pic :shudders:
This.

Okay, yes, a warning is nice preceding that gawd awful pg belly pic RSSN!!!!
I personally dont mind the naked bump pic, if its a tasteful picture but um bikini lace undies and hands over boobs would probably not fall in the "tasteful picture" category for me.
I agree with RSSN, when I'm lurking around the national boards is when I tend to see a lot mroe naked belly pics- some are really cute, and others just make me gag a bit.
that pic that rssn posted is hysterical...where did you find it?
What if the pic is an artsy pic--I had pics taken of me done by the photo teacher at my school--very artistic. I was wearing a sheer draped fabric--you couldn't see any of me other than the belly.
I think that would be lovely but that's because it doesn't seem explicit.
It simply alludes to alludes to the sensual as opposed to PG soft-core (kind of what I think of with naked up top and teeny undies down south PG photo).
okay at risk for being in trouble when do we crossover into soft core porn?? I mean hand covering breasts, lacy underwear... big belly or not that sounds like something I'd see in Playboy (or at least a racy cover of Vanity Fair).
I think PG bellies are beautiful too but time and place people.. time and place!
And Rssn that pic... neither time nor place... ew. If ever I do something like that please someone shoot me and put me out of my misery! :-)

Our Rainbow Baby is on the Way!
I was just going to post this morning about where the line gets drawn because I cannot for the life of me understand why people have professional maternity pics taken in the nude.?
I wanted to be able to share our pics with loved ones and one day show Camryn what we looked like while we were growing her little self -- and I just can't imagine wanting to strip down right now and have my picture taken.
I understand boudoir photos.
I understand professional maternity photos.
I do NOT understand merging the two. ?
ETA: And I do not mean the drape-style pics like yours, HSart, those are tasteful. I mean nuuuude nude. Don't get it. ?

You're right...not soft-core.
You know me so well, K.
Yes, that would be me that has issues with pregnant bikinis. Now I will say that #1- I don't think pg bellies are unsightly at all, and #2- I don't mind seeing most bare belly pics on the msg board (with the exception of stubble and the ones I just think are trashy). They don't bother me when I see them here because, well, it's a PG board.
However, naked PG belly in a bikini is NOT something I want to see at the pool. Flame me if you will, but I apply BeckO's theory of boudoir mat pics to bikinis. I get bikinis. I get pregnancy. I don't get blending the two. Bikinis are designed to be revealing and sexually appealing. I do not think there is a whole lot that's extrordinarily sexy about the PG state that warrents displaying publicly! lol
i have to disagree about the bikini. i bought one and i feel fantastic in it! i think pregnancy can be sexy if you want it to be. that doesn't mean raunchy! i just want to feel good about myself--yes i see the cheese on my thighs, but i wasn't perfect before i was pregnant. now that i'm pregnant, i feel like people will be more forgiving of my cheese lol !
i think whatever makes you comfortable is what you should go with--within reason. non pregnant people have different styles, too, so that is sure to carry over when you get pg, right?
