Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

A WWYD

So I signed up for this gym thing, and my mom and DH swore they would watch DD so I could go. Well, my mom comes on her own time (like saying, I'll be there at 10, then excuse after excuse before showing up at 4-5pm) which doesn't work out. There just aren't enough  hours in the evening for DH to watch her (he gets home at 6ish, I cook, we eat, feed DD, put her to bed, then I help him with hw). DH is all paranoid about leaving her in the daycare thing. I am a little, as she's never been left with anyone but my mom, but I think she'll be fine, and I have got to start going. We are basically trashing $40 month on this right now. It's only $10/ month to use the daycare thing, and then i can go whenever i want to.

Tell me he's wrong, and she'll be fine. lol

Re: A WWYD

  • I worked at a gym when I was younger and the daycare was really nice!

    Have you checked it out?

  • The daycare at my gym is great.  He has so much fun and falls sleep on the way home most times.  The providers even take them on "field trips" up to the gym and have scavenger hunts once in awhile.  It is so cute.

  • I went to a gym for a short time and left DD in the daycare.  That place was nice b/c they had tv's all over which showed the children in there, but regardless, it was fine.  After the first time or two I felt totally comfortable leaving her there.  And I actually didn't even check the tv's at all after the first few days(too busy sweating, lol).
  • He is wrong.  She will be fine.  Go and take advantage of it.  You deserve it.
  • It looked fine to me. I looked in there on 2 other visits too and there were only 1-2 kids there. They keep a worker in there, and if there are a lot of kids they bring in another, but they said that rarely happens. The building also has open ceilings - the walls don't reach the ceiling, so if she's having a hissy fit in there, I would be able to hear her. They would also come get me if necessary.

I think it would be good for her, really. And I just keep getting fatter by the day.

  • Maybe it would comfort your DH to take him on a tour of the gym daycare??
When I had a gym membership, I started taking DS there from 8 weeks old til he was 10 months. (They then built a gym at my work so I no longer have a need for a membership)
Anyways-- the gym daycare was very clean, organized, and he loved it.?
  • We are dont do daycare, and I am kinda anti-daycare,  but leave DD in the play area at the gym

Its clean, and college aged girls watching, she loves playing and watching the older kids play basketball... She loves the story time they do too, plus its only 1 hr 5 days a week

I think its good for her, to be honest.

  • Daycare at the gym? You could spend some time hanging out before you leave her there alone, during the time you would want to work out, to make sure everyone seems like a good provider.

    He's wrong, she'll be fine! :)

  • Crap! This totally just became a useless post - I just called to ask what the hours are and they said that since they don't get too many kids in there, they are closing the kids area in a few weeks! Ugh I am so disappointed. :((

  • Darn, you should still take advantage of it in the few weeks left, though.

  • My DD goes to my gym's daycare.  All the machines have personal tvs and one of the stations is the daycare room, so I can watch her.  I can't do that for the hour I'm with my trainer, but I peek in every now and then (although I shouldn't...if she sees me she gets upset) and if I was needed they would page me over the intercom.  I've had zero problems....but I also asked a few questions (like, is the room person trained in child care, etc.).

I think your DD will be fine, and it will make you feel good
