I went into OB 3 weeks ago because I thought I had a UTI... turns out the discomfort I was feeling was probably due to a combo of RLP and bacterial vaginosis. The dr. put me on a week of some basic antibiotic and I was coming back for my monthly ion two weeks so he said he would check on it then. At that point I was mainly asymptomatic (sp) aside from the discomfort I was feeling and some discharge (but I had thought the discharge was normal for my point in preg).
So anyway FF to last week when I went back for my monthly appt. He took another swab at me and looked at it under the microscope and said it looked much better but it wasn't gone. He gave me a Rx for another cycle of the antibiotic. He basically told me we HAD to get rid of it or risk pre-term labor. I knew this from googling so I said ok I was fine taking another cycle but should I come back earlier than 4 weeks to make sure it was gone and he said "no this cycle should take care of it." Well I am almost done the second cycle of antibitoic and am still having discharge (sometimes a slight yellowish color) but no discomfort. I over-worry everything so I am wondering if I should just trust him and go back in July 29th or call sooner if the discharge continues.
Anyone have any experience with this - difficulty kicking BV? Anyone else's "normal" discharge a light yellowish color?
Re: Still freaked about BV
I had BV from July 2008 - January 2009. I was on three different types of Rx before they found one that worked. I am an extreme case, so I don't want to scare you. My OB told me a lot of people need more than 1 course due to the antibiotics losing their effectiveness/bacteria becoming resistant. I normally have a light yellow discharge - depending on where I am in my cycle, and all the time right now. If you are concerned it isn't gone and the discharge is still there, it can't hurt to call the Dr and ask. Waiting that long to find out there is nothing wrong is too stressful, and if it isn't then you can get more meds. I am told the discharge will keep increasing during pg no matter if you have BV or not, so I am sure I will be really concerned about this later on in my pg.
