First of all I love this board because it gives me so much hope so thank you for being open and always helpful! So this month I'm starting IUI with gonal-f and I'm just curious how many follicles do the doctors like to see when using gonal-f? I only had one with all my clomid cycles so I was just curious if the goal is to have 2 or 3 or more than that, with the hopes of only 1 taking. Thanks in advance!!

I did my IUIs with Follistim (same thing pretty much). We always aimed for 2-3 mature follicles, which for my doctor meant 15-16mm or above. One cycle I had 4 mature and we went ahead with it, but only after I got the talk about the risk of high-order multiples, and I already had four failed IUIs under my belt at that point. The goal was definitely to get pregnant with only one baby, but there is always the risk of multiples when you are aiming sperm at multiple mature follicles.
Sometimes your age will matter--if you're older they might trigger you with more follicles, figuring that some of the eggs won't be good enough quality.
It's definitely both an art and a science! You'll probably get lots of different responses. Good luck!
I am thankful every day for my miracle after infertility.
And thrilled to be pregnant again after FET!
I did multiple cycles of clomid w/o response. When I moved to Gonal-f I had 4 mature follies at trigger. We now have healthy twins.
Good Luck!!!

I had b2b IUI with Gonal F and got my BFP with the 1st cycle. I stimmed for 12 days with 300iui, then used Ganirelix for another 5 days. The day of trigger, I had 1 mature follie at 19mm and 2 at 16mm. It worked
Good luck!!!?
