u/s cost

I was wondering if anyone knew how much an u/s costs.  I called my insurance company and they said that only 1 is covered unless there is a problem.

Re: u/s cost

  • I've looked it up before and it varies but I believe $300-500 ish

  • At my RE they run about $450, at my OB they run about $350. Not sure why there is such a difference.

Some cities have walk in places that are much cheaper, but I'm not sure if there is one in your area. There are none in mine.

  • Mine have been $450.

Ask your doctor's office (billing dept?) because they raise the prices if insurance is going to cover it and if you pay for it all at once they usually give a 10-20% discount. OR you can do a payment plan with your doctors office.

  • The bill for our first u/s (which was covered by our insurance) was only $170.  Our insurance also only covers 1 u/s so we'll have to shell out $170 for the 20-week u/s.
  • At my o/b they range from $150-$200
  • I have seen a 15 min 4-d u/s for 64$ in my area.
  • Ultrasound businesses like Ultrababies can charge as little as $89 for a 15 minute ultrasound.  They're not really diagnostic, like at the Dr. but they're perfect if you just want to see the little bugger.

  • I believe at least a few hundred, but I know my OB offers optional 3D ultrasounds for $50.

  • Depends on if you want diagnostic or just to see the baby.

I would think you are looking for diagnostic.  Just had my 20wk done and had to pay for it (because of my deductibe).  This was at a radiology place, $170.

If you go to a 3-D/4-D place you're going to see something that doesn't look all that much like a baby (at least until after 12 weeks) and the won't be able to tell you if the baby is healthy etc.  You might disagree with me, but this would not give me peace of mind if I was only allowed a later u/s.
