We're back! How was everyone's 4th???

OMG - we had so much fun!  We inner tubed on Friday and hung out with our friends at the lake this weekend.  Avery did GREAT!  she loved  the boat ride and we put her in the lake with her life jacket on to see if it worked (closely supervised of course!) and she totally dug it.

Yesterday I put her in her pool float and took her swimming again.

It was HOT though and none of us slept well.  Poor Avery loves to cuddle things when she sleeps and would get too hot and wake up.

Last night was challenging - between the crazy hotness of the house and the sound of the fireworks.  So I got her up while we let off fireworks and she LOVED it.  I thought she'd be a little scared because while I was trying to get to sleep, she'd jump everytime one was set off.  but in real life, she thought they were hysterical and cracked up!

and she has a new nickname now - "chipmunk" - no one believed me when I told people about how she hoards food (mainly blueberries and watermelon) in her cheeks until they saw it first hand.

How was everyone else's 4th of July?

  • SOunds like she had a great time! We had a great 4th. We had some people over and grilled! It was my first time to grill ribs and they did come out wonderful if I do say so myself. We sat in our backyard and watched fireworks all around us. It was a nice night out so we sat outside for a long time. It was good! Hope everyone else is safe and sound!

  • It was great. DH's family came in town and we took our 7-year-old niece to a local festival and watched the fireworks. We let her do sparklers and snap-n-pops. She had never done either before and was so excited! We took Kennedy to the fireworks as well, but we watched the show from a distance so it wouldn't be so loud. She slept through the whole thing!

We had a good time. The in-laws came (which is the 1st time dh's dad has ever stayed w/ us and only the 2nd time for his mom--I had her stay w/ me for a few days after having AC since my mom couldnt stay the whole week). Sat we went to the zoo, grilled out, saw the fireworks (which AC loved to watch) and then yesterday we hung out here and watched her play in her baby pool.

  • I am so glad you guys had a good time! I thought Avery would like the boat!

We had a great weekend as well! We went swimming Saturday morning and the pool was dead! It was kind of nice. Then, we invited Matt's mom and boyfriend over for a cookout that afternoon. They are great company. We had snow crab legs, steak, sweet potatoes, corn on the cob and peach cobbler for dessert! It was SO yummy!! We went to see fireworks at Bridgestreet. It was a great night!

  • We had a great 4th weekend!  We were in Gatlinburg for my family reunion and my aunts threw me a surprise baby shower!  They got me good...I had no clue.
