Checking on baby

How often do you get up just to check on DC?  The girls are almost a year old and I still go in the check on them several times before I go to bed and I wake up twice to check on them over night AND if dh wakes up, I send him to check on them.  I wonder when this stops?

Re: Checking on baby

  • Hey girl.

If I hear nothing, we just periodically check the video monitor that we keep with us all night and just go to bed.  We usually do not physically go in to check unless they are uncontrollably crying/sick something like that.

  • My kid doesn't sleep through the night... so I have to check on him a lot. But I go in there before I go to bed to cover him and that's it.

  • I go in when he cried but since he isn't STTN yet. When he goes longer than 4 hours I go check on him and normally within 20 minutes he wakes up and cries :(

  • I check on dd once or twice before bed.  She wakes up between 2-4 am to nurse so I don't go in there again until she wakes up.  If it's past 4 am I check the video monitor.  She wakes up for the day between 6-7 am.  Once again if she sleeps past that time I check on her with the monitor or if I'm awake I go in her room.

  • We go in once before bed, and then that is it, unless he cries in the night. He sleeps through the night, so it is easy for us. If we go in he is likely to get up!
  • I usually check on him once a night shortly after he falls asleep. Last night we had to put the crib bumper up, so I have been checking on him a few more times.
  • a couple times before I go to bed then again when I am going up to bed and if I happen to get up in the middle of the night...that's all ;)
  • i check on them about 20 minutes after i know they are asleep, and then once before i go to bed..unless something is going on, like they are sick or something..then i go check on sniffly noses, whatnot..

usually, i just don't wanna push my luck with waking them up! i do like to see their sweet sleeping faces though :)

  • Aw Tina!  ;-)

Everyone's style, as you can see from the responses, is different.

My girls have been STTN for a long time--usually once they go down, they are down and no need to go in there and chance one or both of them waking up.   The video monitor has been a godsendl.  We can always see what's going on with both of them.

  • Never.  Let sleeping babies lie is my motto.

  • They are never awake I just get worried and need to check on them.  Sometimes I wake up and freak out and need to go see them.  I'm sure one day I'll start Sttn with them haha.
