Cloth diaper ladies - I have a few questions

So, I have 8 Bum Genius 3.0 pockets that I got from my Target registry.  I really like them and I am thinking about getting more, but I feel like I am missing out on others that are out there without trying.  Have you tried the sample pack that some web sites offer?  If so, what have you learned.  Also, where is the best online deal for buying cloth diapers.  I know I can find them cheaper than Target.

 Happy 4th!!

  • I would try the Eco Friendly Board,  they may be able to help.

  • I've researched cloth diapers quite a bit, and have decided on BG 3.0. This is of course before trying any, but it seems to get great reviews. Just curious, how much are the ones at Target? I had NO idea they sold any cloth diapers. I've looked through their diaper section a lot and haven't seen them once.

Anyway, do you enjoy the cloth diapers more than disposables? I keep going back and forth....but I'm pretty positive I want to cloth diaper.

  • We're trying gdiapers right now. They have a starter pack for $26 at BRU.. We really like them, although they're really expensive.
  • for the record. I loathe the BG OS diapers. I think they're too bulky and we had leaks. I think there are much better diapers (even one size) than the BG.

Now, I LOVE the BG AIOs, but I've only used the sized ones. My fav diapers right now are prefolds and flats (both of which I swore were too difficult and I would never use before I tried them. Now they're the first things I grab). But, for all in ones, I like the sized BG (although their velro has caused me issues more than any other diaper), I also really like the very baby and monkey doodlez all in ones. I can actually put K down for a nap in the VB or MD and she won't leak...I can't do that with a BG.

For pockets, I love fuzzi bunz. LOVE them. I also just got a chunky monkey pocket. I've only used it once so far, but so far I really really like it. A lot of people have had really good luck the KCK one for a OS pocket.

My second favorite diapers are fitted with covers. I love BSRB, muttaqin baby, goodmama (although I've only started to like these since she's gotten bigger), bububebe and monkey snuggles. For newborn, I LOVED kissaluvs. My fav fitteds are the BSRBs. I really enjoy the olive janes covers and I love using wool and fleece covers too.

For overnights, we use bamboozles fitteds with a wool or fleece cover. We've used crickett's in the past, but she outgrew the ones I'd bought, and I got a great deal on diaperswappers on the size 2 bamboozles.

I have a large stash, with a HUGE variety. I've never bought into the whole only having one type of diaper mindset...and my DH will only use the diapers he's comfortable using (and right now, the only thing he won't use is a flat). IMO, there's way too many cute diapers out there to be stuck with a stash of one type. (especially because, IMO, the BG are some of the most boring looking diapers on the market).

  • I just returned 18 BumGenius dipes to Target (they are $35/2 online)

I fell in love with Gro Baby diapers after I had ordered the Target ones (due to an error...it took 2 months to ship.) Gro Baby you can reuse the shell for multiple diapers. You only have to change it if the shell gets poo on it. DH loves them. You just snap the liner in rather than stuffing. He likes that because he knows it won't get twisted and he doesn't have to worry about stuffing it too far.

I have 10 shells (colors green, dk purple, mandarin and vanilla) and about 25 soaker snap ins. We used three shells over a 4 day weekend and 2 of the shells we could have still used. They are $25 for a shell/soaker/booster (nighttime) and then additional soakers are sold in packs of 2 for $18.
