I've really been thinking about getting one on my foot with DSs initials. I just don't know if it hurts a lot on the foot. Not that I have any tattoos to compare it to.
I have two, and I LOVE them! I think people are always surprised to learn how pro-tattoo I am..... I appear to be quite conservative!
The first is on the inside of my ankle, two star outlines. Very simple, took 5 minutes, little pain.
The second is on my upper back, between my shoulders. It' the symbol for "om." This is much bigger, and took about half an hour. It didn't hurt either, but I think the pain thing differs person to person. I actually find getting the tattoo soothing, and it feels kind of good. It's hard to describe. After 1/2 an hour, it's a little sore, but really, it's not a sensation I could accurately describe. Childbirth was way worse!
Also, I've heard that the foot is a painful place. But I would say, don't be discouraged if it's what you really want. You can endure the pain if that's what you want!!
lol punk.... is your ankle tattoo a family constellation? mine is too, only we haven't added lydia yet... and here i thought i was so original!!
LOL yes. the 4 of us are the stars and the bye bye baby is the moon
eta: everyone wants me to color them in - which i do too sometimes. except im worried that later a "green star" or whatever color, is going to mean something weird LOL and i like outlines more.
I have one on the front of my left ankle. It is one of 4 tattoos that I have. To be honest, I really like my tattoos, but if I had it to do over again, I probably wouldn't get the one on my chest. Here are some random pics I found:
From my maternity pics photo shoot. This is one of the last pictures
where I had to just sit down because I was so hot and tired! LOL! You
can see my star on my left ankle. It's a thick black outline and
colored in blue and purple. I LOVE this one and would get it again. It
wasn't terribly painful except at the top when the needle hit my shin
bone.
This one is my tramp stamp It was originally this:
I HATED this for years. The idea of it was really cool. It was a negative image of one my sister has, but it came out COMPLETELY wrong, so I had a tattoo artist add on the ivy, calla lillies and lots of color. I like it MUCH better now, but not sure I would do this again! The lower back was VERY painful. This was 2 straight hours and it definitely cured me of wanting more tattoos!
This is a pic of me getting ready for my wedding (hair done/makeup not). The one on my chest is the one that I wouldn't get again. I like the tattoo itself (2 black-eyed susans, my favorite flower), but I hate where it is. Plus, I associate it with a bad time in my life. Oh well.
Here's a close up of the flowers:
My last picture is actually the first tattoo I ever got, but I don't have a picture of the whole thing. It's just a ring of flames with a lower-case letter a inside of it. It's on the front of my hip and it's a total afterthought at this point.
i can imagine how bad the inside ankle hurts for long/bigger things. dh has one on his back and one on his shoulder and still the inside ankle hurt the worst (he has a skydiving thing there). afterward he was like "wtf! that actually hurt!" lol bc all of his other ones we so easy.
# stars on each hip and i just got Rylee's name with a princess crown over it on my sholder. didnt hurt to much and im a BIG weenie!! worst part was the healing but now that is pretty much aver and im beyond thrilled!
One is on my right arm... it's a moon and stars that I got when I was 19 (I hate it and I'm getting it covered ASAP). Didn't hurt.
One is on my back, in between my shoulder blades. It's a little pixie. That one hurt a little bit.
My other two are on my wrists. They are mirror versions of each other... a swallow with a banner, with each of my kids' birthdays in it. (06.19.08 and 08.19.06) Those HURT and I almost didn't make it through the second one (and I have a super high pain tolerance).
one on my ankle (flamingos that shape into a heart) and one on my left shoulder (heart with crown of thorns wrapped around it and a cross inside of it).
ankle hurst like a sob, shoulder wasn't bad at all.
I don't know where would be the 'best place' if I could go back I wouldnt' get any... or atleast be more selective of what it was.
I have a medium sized on on my ankle, small one on my lower pelvis, a large arm band and floral design on my right arm, 2 large dragonflies that represent my girls on my right arm and my whole upper back/shoulders. None of mine hurt except the upper back because it was a cover up of a previous tattoo and they had to go really deep, lets just say, 2 months prior I gave birth to an 8 1/2lb baby with no drugs or epidural and would rather do that again than have that tattoo re done. It was 4 hours of non stop pain, not like contractions where they stop. This was 4 hours non stop gouging into myback, But after this baby comes I am getting another dragonfly for him, I want a full or half arm sleeve for my left arm and would like something with the kids names and bdates on my left calf.(I also have piercings, not as many as a teen, but I have ears twice, bellybutton and a monroe, where she had her mole on her upper lip, I used to have eyebrow, nose and tongue twice)
I have a tramp stamp, which hurt, but I can't stand it now. I also got one on the top of my foot after my kiddos. It has out whole families first initials and out last with a cross intertwined. I recently got a cherry branch with blossoms in the shape of a G on my shoulder blade in memory of out friend who was recently murdered. The one on my shoulder didn't even hurt at all. It may have been the meaning behind it, but the one on my foot was a million times worse.

lol gategirl is obviously my copy cat
or maybe i am hers
i have 4 stars and a crescent moon on the inside of my ankle.
i have "this year's love" in gaelic betw my shoulder blades.
and i have a tramp stamp
my ankle hurts every time i add a star (or the moon), but it only lasts 2 mins and its done.
my tramp stamp hurt like a biotch.
the top of my back didnt hurt as bad as the tramp stamp. but some parts were sensitive.
i would go for it - the pain is not something like you think "OMG I'LL NEVER DO IT AGAIN!" you forget about it the second its over.
LOL yes. the 4 of us are the stars and the bye bye baby is the moon

I was originally going to color mine... but I kind of like them really subtle like that - and yeah, I don't know what colors I would do!!
But they are so addictive - I got my second one a few months ago, and I already want another one!!
I guess the girls on this board like their stars

You can just see the very top of it here.
Maybe a better pic of my star? Taken last week at the beach, I think it should be a little clearer.
I have one.
Lower back, right hand side.
It didn't hurt, but I did have an andrenaline rush and we had to stop about 2 minutes in and take a 5 minute break. I was fine after that though.
Someplace you can hide if you don't want it seen - especially at work.
I have 3.
Eeyore & Tigger on my right (inside) ankle (it represents my husband and I)
Heart/rose on my chest (only one I hate).
Texas on my buttcheek.
Ankle hurt like a biotch, but not like I wanted to die.
I'm getting another, on the lower part of my neck (at collar line) to represent Kellen. I haven't completely decided what.
