Anyone have to move while Pregnant?!

Ughh...I have to move on Monday! ?Fortunately we will be away for the weekend so I can pretend it is not happening but it is driving me nuts.

I feel like I can't/shouldn't do anything b/c of the pregnancy but I want/need to do alot and it is making me crazy not to do anything.

The movers are going to pack for us but still...I just feel there is so much organizing to do. ?& don't even get me started on the move-in and un-packing!

Anyone go through this while pregnant? ?How did you handle it? TIA!

Re: Anyone have to move while Pregnant?!

  • At least you have movers to pack for you! ?I'm stuck packing everything myself. ?My husband and his friend are renting a moving truck. ?Guess who gets to unpack? ?Yes. ?Me!

  • I moved when I was about 13/14 weeks along. I went a little crazy at first feeling overwhelmed, but I was able to get help from friends and family. Do you have anyone close who can help take some of the burden off of you?
  • i moved when I was 5 months pregnant!!  It was tough!!  We didn't have movers or anything, we had to pack everything ourselves and move everything ourselves (with the help of some family, of course.)  You're lucky you don't have to do all taht work :-D

On top of everything, we had a lot of home repairs to do, our house had to be tented for termites, doors had to replaced, etc... it was really stressful.  I just brought a chair with me, sat when I needed, opened all the windows if painting was going on, and didn't forget to drink lots of water and eat!  Once it was done, though, it was totally worth it :-D

  • I guess I shouldn't complain too much. ?We haven't told anyone about the pregnancy so I would feel funny asking for help when we have movers.

I think it is funny that DH thinks it is a good time for me to throw out extra clothes....;) Esp. if they are not maternity...won't be wearing them...ahhhhh!?

  • We will be in a few weeks (fingers crossed the closing goes through). I'll also be about 8-9 weeks at that point. Fortunately DH is very eager to take over most of the heavy lifting but I have a feeling I'll might be feeling awfully crappy at that point.
  • Just be careful, my RE has be on very strict no heavy lifting restrictions. I know they are more cautious b/c I got pg through IVF, but still, be careful.

  • yeah I have been very nauseas and have not been able to get my energy up at all so it is like i am moving in the middle of the night...for days.

My DH says no prob he will do it all I am just worried it is too much. ?We have been dealing with the apt. from hell - non-working shower too. ?So we had to find a place real quick so it has been sooo stressful. ? ?

  • Thankfully, we got pregnant literally the day after moving 2000 miles across the country. If it had happened before then, I would have gone crazy. However, we really want a house of our own and this rental thing just sucks.... so the DH is talking about buying another house sooner than later.... I had to tell him that it's not gonna happen right now.

  • we're moving in October. And possibly September. We're having a house built and it won't be ready until end of October, although we may have to be out of our current house September 1. Fun times. Since we just moved in mid May (with professional movers and packers), we have about 75% of our stuff still in boxes and it will stay that way. But I don't imagine I'll be any help with the actual move, save for directing traffic.

  • I have to move in Dec when I am 7 months and christmas shopping and wrapping how annoying is that going to be!
  • We are moving at the end of the month!  I'm not too worried about it because we've moved a lot over the years so we've gotten pretty used to it.  The last move was with a 4 week old.  I'll take being pregnant over that any day!  :)

I'll be doing the bulk of the packing while my 1 and 3 year old are napping the next few weeks and then a moving company will load and unload our stuff for us.

I'm excited because it means we'll be close to DH again. Right now he is working almost 2 hours away and making the commute every day.  At our new place we will be only 2 minutes from his office (literally... we timed it!).

  • We are moving the second week of Sept. I will be about 20 weeks. We are getting LOTS of help and everyone will know about the pregnancy at that point. I will be doing the packing and unpacking but I am looking forward being in our brand new home!
