NTR: Has anyone tried accupunctre?

I'm doing it tomorrow to help w/migraines.  I saw the dr today, and she perscribed 3 different medicines to help.  I already feel like an old lady because I'm on 2 different meds and take a bunch of vitamins/supplements daily--I just don't want to add more stuff, so I thought I'd try the holistic approach.  Anyone try it (for anything)?  Results?

  • Yes, I've done it for allergies and severe motion sickness.  Worked great and it's super relaxing!!

  • ive only had it done once and it was for this super bad 2-3 day migraine i had when i was pg (it was so bad that i was driving my car one day and i didn't fully understand that i was driving, and probably SHOULDN'T have been driving lol)...afterwards, i felt like a brand new person

my chiro told me afterwards that she hadn't seen anyone be so calm about getting it...i wasn't calm about it, i was just in so much pain and couldn't move but still didn't fully realize what was going on either....i was in such a total daze those few days

  • I was very skeptical...  but after going for a few months during my last months of pregnancy, I'm a total believer.  She got rid of my aches and pains, my swollen ankles, and even threw me into labour at 39.5 weeks.  I think you'll be thrilled with the results.

  • I know people that have done it for a variety of reasons (ttc, back pain, DH went for insomnia) and they've all had good results.  And in my opinion, it can't hurt to try!  Especially if it means you wouldn't have to take medication/or as much medication.  Good luck!
  • I did acupuncture once a week while tttc - it had so many wonderful benefits in addition to helpin w/ IF stuff.

Didn't have a migraine the whole year!  And I usually get really horrible once 3-4 times a year.  My psorisis also cleared up during that time.  AND, I found it as relaxing as the going to the spa.

    Huge thumbs up!

  • Yes - I have gone for migraines. Which reminds me, I need to make an appointment because I've been having them frequently lately (weather sucks).
  • I got sciatica during my 3rd tri to the point I was having a hard time breathing and walking. I went to one session of accupuncture and I walked out feeling like a whole new person- it was amazing! I went a few times after the sciatica was gone just for good measure and to reduce heartburn and it worked great.
  • I've done it for migraines, it does help for awhile - although you do need to go back once a month.  I'd definitely recommend it.
