Parenting after a Loss

Eeek- SIL dilated & ctx at 30 weeks...

I don't know much; just that she was having ctx, went to doctor and was dilated (don't know how much) so they had her go to the hospital. She's only 30 or 31 weeks (due Sept 3) so I am nervous. Unfortunately psychic sueball has a gut feeling my niece or nephew might be here sooner than we think- but- but I hope its at least a month from now....:(

Anyone dilated and contracting prematurely who DIDN'T go into labor? I had ctx but no dilation and they settled with terbutaline....

  • Eek indeed!

I know there are a lot of women on the Multiples board who were dialted early and having ctx. Some of them got drugs, some just got bed rest. I guess its not uncommon to be a cm dilated for weeks and weeks?

I sure hope your nephew or niece stays put a bit longer though!

  • Just talked to her. She's freaking out. Apparently, she went to the doctor b/c she was feeling weird and having "pressure". He thought everything was fine until he checked her and the baby's head was engaged and she was dilated (still not sure how much- her phone cut out). So he sent her right to the hospital. She's waiting there now to be admitted. I am really scared for her. T&P appreciated.
  • Aw jeez poor thing! I hope everything turns out ok..please keep us posted!
  • At about 34 weeks, I was slight dilated, 50% effaced and having ctx.  I did not deliver to 38.5 weeks.  They went away with bedrest.  I hope the same happens for your SIL!
  • That's right Ocean, I remember! Thanks- it;s good to hear that you were able to hold labor off. I am assuming they will do terb and bedrest....
  • Welll, you know!  All my PTL stuff started at 31 weeks.  I was 60% effaced and 2-3 cm and after a couple of terb shots the ctx stopped.  I made it to 37 weeks.  I hope she is able to get some more time!  As we both know, that terb. is good stuff and works pretty well.  Let us know what you find out:)  Hugs to her!
  • Hope everything turns out ok.
  • I don't have any experience, but she will be in my thoughts and prayers!
