i have 2 m/c: one at 6 weeks and one miscarriage found at around 10.5 weeks (last month).
i want to speak with my doctor about getting some bloodwork done to see if what is happening is more than just 'bad luck' which is what i keep hearing from everyone.
what type of tests should i ask for?
thank you
Re: blood tests?
My ob referred me to a reproductive endocrinologist after my two early m/c's. She said that the ob/gyn field is starting to test after 2, rather than 3. I guess every dr. is different. I think every dr. will test different things depending on your history, but here's a list of bloodwork that me RE did (that I'm waiting for the results from...)
CBC, CMV (IgG & IgM), Cystic Fibrosis, HBsAg, HCV core antibody, HIV 1 & 2, HTLV 1/2, Prolactin, Rubella, RPR, TSH, Day 3 hormone levels (Estradiol, LH, FSH, Progesterone), mycoplasma, MYFHR (one blood clotting test), and karyotype. A lot of these tests are for some basic things. You can google then to find out what they test for. Additionally, she tested for Chlamydia, CG, & insulin resistance. I'm also going for a saline sonogram on Monday to look for any structural abnormalities in my uterus. This was the basic stuff that she wanted to do (my RE that is...) that are all non-invasive. My feeling is that if there's something as simple as taking a pill to reduce my risk of another m/c, then it's something easy that I can do.
Best of luck to you!
