3rd Trimester

Rough Day

At my midwife appointment this morning she expressed concern that I've gained 6 pounds in 3 weeks. Agreed, I don't need to gain 2 pounds every week, but I was on vacation and stuff during that time. And the 2 months before that I only gained 2 pounds. So by no means is this a pattern.

She said we'll just see what I gain over the next 2 weeks until my next appointment. But it really bummed me out. Weight gain is always a stress point for me. I grew up with an obese mom and worked really hard 2 years ago to loose 30 pounds. Anyway, why does weight have to be such a big deal during pregnancy anyway. Ar.

Thanks for letting me vent...

Re: Rough Day

  • Try not to let it bother you...it was one appt. I feel the same way about weight, but until it happens more than once, I would not consider it a trend. Try not to fret about it...I know, it's hard.

  • They look at weight gain (or loss) as an indication of possible problems. That is why they monitor it so closely. If your doctor says you and baby are ok, then dont worry about it!
  • Thanks ladies. I know the midwife is looking out for my health and the baby's. It just frustrated me today...
  • Even though we know we're supposed to be gaining weight when pregnant, its never going to be easy seeing that scale go up and up and...up. Also its hard to hear anyone comment on weight gain. I think we've all been there!
