C-Section Mommies (Another Question)

Hi ladies...sorry for all the questions.

Here's another one. A lot of my friends who have had babies have told me to wear a girdle, or one of those belly shaper looking things, to make your tummy go down much faster. I'm thinking that with a c-section...that must hurt like hell. Did any of you wear anything like this, and if so, which did you use and did it hurt really really bad?

That's my last question...I promise. Thank you so much for all your advice and suggetions.

  • i am 3 weeks out an i would not want to wear a girdle.

you are not supposed to rub the incision area and i would think a girdle would do that. you want the area to heal.

  • I just wear the Bella Bands I had from 2nd tri days. I don't know how much they're actually doing to make me smaller (I've lost a ton of weight, but I think that's from BFing) but it does help me feel like everything is being 'held in.'
  • It was not comfortable for me at all :(
  • My hospital put a belly binder on me.  I couldn't tell you if it helped though, because I broke out in a horrid rash from and to take it off before I really got up and moving around.

  • I didn't after having DS but did after having DD and it didn't bother me or hurt at all.  You're pretty numb for a while after a C Section...or at least that's been my experience.  I didn't wear it until I was about 2-3 wks out.

  • The hospital put me in a belly binder before moving me to my room. I wore it until I got out of bed, but it felt so dirty and nasty and itchy that I didn't use it thereafter.
  • I would think that the girdle might be uncomfortable.  I ended up wearing maternity-size underwear (from Medela) that went almost up to my boobs.  It was snug enough to "hold me in" and it did a good job of covering my incision & padding.  None of my regular underwear was big enough to cover the pad over my incision.
  • I wore the binder I got from the hospital.  I don't know whether it made me smaller, but it sure helped me from feeling like my guts were falling out!
  • The hospital gave me a belly binder.  I liked it because it made it easier for me to move without pain.  It didn't really help with making my tummy get any flatter & I would keep it pretty tight.  I wore it for about a week.  My tummy is still flabby! Ughhhh...

  • My doctor recommeded that I use the belly bandit and it worked great. https://www.bellybandit.com/ check out the website.

  • I was given a girdle like thing at the hospital. It helps with getting out of bed early on and with coughing, laughing and sneezing. I wore it probably about a week or two.

  • I started wearing one by week two pp and it totally helped me. I wore it for 40 days as much as possible includind sleeping in it. I wore a tauts by baboosh baby and loved them. It actually held everything in so my incision hurt less and it made it easier for me to lift LO, etc..
