The plan was to breastfeed JJ but i dont make as much milk as he drinks so i ave to supplement with formula. Originally I had planned on introducing bottled breast milk @ around 6 weeks since i will eventually go back to work and he'll need to take a bottle. I had planned on using the Dr.Browns and bought a couple packs.
The level one Dr. Browns seem to have too fast of a flow for him. It comes dripping out his mouth. (This didnt happen when we were using those rtf disposable 2oz bottle the Dr's office gave us)
So my question is: What bottle do you recommend that has a very slow flow??
TIA, sorry it came out this long.
Re: (help) which bottle for my breastfed LO??
When I worked at the daycare, we saw all types of bottles. From that I decided I liked the playtex dropins the best. Babies seem to be less gassy with them. My second choice would be the ventaire bottles also by playtex. It never made sense to me to get the super fancy ones, bc they cost too much.
If I pump, we use the drop ins.
GL!
I've tried a bunch and the only ones for my DD are NUK's (with a slow nipple).
Every baby is different. I would take a trip to Target, buy one of each, and try them out. We went through about 3-4 different types before finding one that worked.
Did your doctor tell you to supplement with breast milk? If your baby is only 8 days old, supplementing with formula will only cause more supply problems. If it's a weight issue, then supplement. If it's an issue with him fussing and acting hungry, I would put him on the boob. Just my $.02. I know you didn't ask, but supplementing can cause more supply problems. Your supply is still regulating, so you want to nurse him as much as you can now.
And we use medela and soothie bottles.

I actually appreciate your concern. We are supplementing with formula. He had lost too much weight too quickly and wasnt urinating enough. =(
I was pretty upset at first but have come to terms with it. We are VERY gradualy needing less formula and i try to pump some more after he feeds hoping i can trick my body into thinking I need more. I am also trying the whole oatmeal for breakfast and bought some milk thistle (sp?) yesterday but want to research that some more before taking it. ANY advice would be appreciated at this point.
