Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

If you swaddled your newborn,

and you used the Miracle Blanket,  did you like it?  Would you recommend it to others.

If you swaddled but didn't use the Miracle Blanket, what blankets did you use?  Regular receiving blankets or a different type of swaddling blanket?  Thanks.

Re: If you swaddled your newborn,

  • We swaddled with the Swaddle Me blankets.  They worked great for us.  They have velcro on them and they are very easy to use.  When DS got to the point where he was breaking free from the swaddle, we just stopped swaddling him and he was happy.

  • We used a fleece blanket.  It is bigger then a receiving blanket.  My sister;s MIL made it for us.  It was great.  DS was swaddled till 7 months in it.

  • we used a regular receiving blanket... our favorite was the one from the hospital.

We used a different swaddling technique than most people (I think).

We pulled the top right corner around her (kind of like how you'd put on a seatbelt), then pulled the top left corner around her the same way, then pulled up the bottom to squish her legs up to her belly and wrapped the corners around her back.  She looked like a little traffic cone.

  • I know some people swear by Miracle Blankets, but I liked our Swaddle Me blankets better. Much easier, imo.

  • I used the halo sleep sacs with the swaddle, and then the swaddle mes when he got bigger.  I couldnt get the blankets tight enough to swaddle him on my own.  I really liked the halos the best, but all the zippers kept breaking, and they dont make them in very big sizes
  • i used swaddle me blankets and some Aden & Anais Muslin Baby blankets. The A&A blankets were a gift and they are super big so they are great for bigger babies and also light for the summer.

Swaddling was big in our house so I used every type of blanket to swaddle. The swaddle me's were great cause you could use them with a carseat if needed. I def recommend them.

  • We used the MB and loved it, especially when Arlo was over 3 months, it worked great until about 7 months or so, then we started using the swaddleme ones and like those as well.  The fleece ones were great for winter.  :)
  • We also used the Swaddle Me blanket.  We never really could figure out how to swaddle DS with a regular blanket.

  • We used stretchy cotton waffle-knit blankets.  We had a miracle blanket, but DD hated it--she figured out how to break out of it right away.
  • We used Swaddle Me's and liked them a lot.

  • We used swaddle me's and they were awesome!
  • I liked the hospital blankets the best.

I think it really depends on your child.  If a baby likes having his/her arms tucked in, then the swaddle me or miracle blanket are good.  My ds hated his arms swaddled- from infancy- he would break free and take his arms out.  So miracle blanket and swaddle me didn't work for us becuase you have to use the arms.  Also, the swaddle me is thick so it helps if it's colder in the room.  I found the miracle blanket much more difficult than the swaddle me which is very user friendly!  But the hospital blankets were best for us!

  • We used the miracle blanket and loved it!  DD never broke out.  When it got colder I tried the fleece swaddle me and she broke out and didn't like it.
  • We swore by the Miracle Blanket. Used it for 6 months! It was the only thign DD wouldn't break out of.
