So a while back, I enrolled in an extended warranty program for my car. When DH spoke to the guy selling, he assured DH that it covered everything. I'm not exactly sure how the convo. went because DH handled it. We give a $300 down payment and receive our package and everything looks legit.
Fast fwd 2 months (of $136 montly payments) and my car breaks down. I'm towed, and when garage calls in the claim, it is denied.
DH has called and called, and been hung up on each time trying to figure out why it ws denied. We finally get through to somone and apparently, this part is strangely not covered!!! We decide to cancel the policy but in order to do that we have to be transferred. You guessed it, we get transferred to the wrong dept then hung up on AGAIN!!!
Finally DH talks to someone and she tells us they are going to lower our total cost, and defer this month's payment since we have to spend the $ to get the car fixed. Again it seems like a good deal, so we accept and she says she will e-mail us the contract.
The next day, still no e-mail DH calls again and asks to speak directly to this woman again and she says she will e-mail it again. We never get it.
(Now this is long enough, so I'll spare the rest of the details) but in the end, it's going to take 4-6 weeks to process our cancellation request, so we'll be charged another month's fee, and we will have to pay the cancellation fee since we are like 5 days outside the "trial" period.
off too contact the BBB now!! YARG!

Re: NBR: I've been scammed VENT (long)
You should also contact your state consumer affairs department and file a complaint. If enough people have complained about this company, they'll order an investigation. Regardless, this will be on the books and you may have some recourse.
I work for a major dealership with a Service department and it's sad but we see it all the time. You have to be so careful with extended warrenties. theres alot of crooks out there. Good luck and do contact the BBR.
This has actually been a very big problem where I live. Here's a link that might help. There is contact info at the bottom.

If this warranty company IS a legit business - you should really let them know you're reporting them to the BBB - that sometimes is enough for them to cut you a break or knock some fees off to avoid a bad claim against them...
At this point - worth a shot!!
How are you making the payments?
1) If you are sending $ to them I wouldn't send anything else, if they try to hit your credit report dispute it.
2) If it's a bank draft, block it with your bank - be aware that if you do this the co will probably try to send it through again for a different amount by .01 or .02. If it still goes through file a fraud claim with your bank.
3) If it's auto draft with your debit or credit card file a claim to dispute the charge - it can be a pain but the co gets reported and you get your $ back.
