I got the same e-mail today! I didn't even bother opening it...I have better things to worry about than wondering if it's okay if I eat a freaking hot dog.
Um, yeah I have been eating potato salad like a fiend all week. And what jackass is going to try to ban pg women from hamburgers on the 4th... unamerican bastards.
seems like a bunch of paranoid germaphobes write for babycenter. i WILL have a hotdog AND a hamburger since i am the hungry pregnant monster these days!

Yeah I saw that email too! I didn't read it either! I've had like 4 corndogs and 9 hamburgers since being pregnant! Oh and a million turkey sandwiches! They were all amazing and the baby and I are fine! A true miracle in their eyes apparently!
Um, wouldn't store bought salads, like potato salad, be prepared under more strict health standards than something in a home kitchen. In a store, they are required to wear gloves and head coverings and such. You can't guarantee that the home cook even washed their hands before preparing the food.
I will admit that in 1st tri I did follow some of those guidelines, but once I was in 2nd tri, I joyfully ate a Nathan's beef frank at Sam's Club. NOM!?
Too funny...I opened this same email this morning and literally rolled my eyes! Ceasar salad?!?!? I have these at least 3 x week. Have a great 4th....Happy potato salad, coleslaw and hotdog eating to everyone!!!
Ok, steer clear from chocolates with liquer centers? WTF? So, should we just make those something that only 21 and up (and non-pregnant women) can buy? Seriously?
And yes, I will eat multiple hot dogs, hamburgers, and potato salad this weekend.
Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.
I plan on eating each and every one of those blissfully evil things this weekend. (minus the potato salad... icky icky) I am seriously thinking of getting off Baby Center's mailing list... it is getting ridiculous with the things that they are sending out! How un-American is it to NOT eat those things that are symbolic of 4th of July weekend... I will eat my hot dog and be a proud American
I got it and skimmed through it, and they phrase it so that it sounds way more alarmist than it is.
NO HOT DOGS (unless they're well cooked) NO HAMBURGERS (unless they are well cooked) NO SALADS (unless you can verify that they haven't been sitting in the sun all day) .
Sprouts do carry a slightly higher salmonella risk, but really all unpeelable or scrubbable raw veggies do (and if you've been eating them all along, and haven't had salmonella, you're cool).
Re: You can blame BABYCENTER for all the crazy
Hey K!
That list is such a downer! Yeah....I'm going to be eating a lot of those things without hesitation.

So no to:
Hot Dogs
Salads (potato, pasta, coleslaw)
Alfa sprouts.
::ponders:: Ya, I'm ignoring all that nonsense.. I love all those things...
EXACTLY . . . and going back to the freak-outs on 1st tri, I can say without reservation that there WILL be girls following these guidelines. haha!!
LOL, I got the email too and read it- I was like, "ohh well...the hot dog I ate over the weekend from the Grill was too yummy to be bad"
sheesh...

Haha, I love how it says you can eat hot dogs and burgers, but only if they've been cooked.
Do you think it's really necessary to say that?
Well done steak tastes like a plastic flip flop.. me it has to be a little pink
.
And that is what I ate esterday in our Canada day!
LMAO.
I will admit that in 1st tri I did follow some of those guidelines, but once I was in 2nd tri, I joyfully ate a Nathan's beef frank at Sam's Club. NOM!?
Umm...I had a hotdog last night.
Will my baby come out with 3 arms? GAHH!
Pretty sure I love hotdogs and eat them all the time. SO YUMMY!
I don't have to worry about potato salad, though, I find it repulsive, and have since I was a kid. BLECH!
I had a Bison hotdog the other week. Seriously, I cannot explain the amazingness of it.
I'm pretty sure LO will thank me for introducing him to the greatness of hot dogs and hamburgers in the womb one day.
