double FAIL today...sigh

So we're off to a great start today.   I offered DS a smoothie for the 1st time.   I made it with blueberries and yogurt.    FAIL!!!!!   He screamed when he realized that there wasn't milk in his cup.    I tried giving him milk in another cup, thinking maybe he was thirsty or something.   He chugged it down and then threw the smoothie cup across the kitchen when I tried to offer it again.   Man, this kid has a good arm!!!!

Then today was our 1st day of swim class.   FAIL!!!!!!  He cried the entire time.    As soon as we got into the pool room, not even in the water yet, he started sobbing.    The whole class he clung to me and burrowed in my shoulder.   The only time he was happy was when the teacher gave everyone a rubber duck(you had to throw the duck and get the kids to reach out their arms to scoop him up...he liked that part because he wanted his duck back)   

It's not even 11 o'clock yet....how many more fails do you think we can rack up today?

    Jumping up and down in the pool and swinging him above my head got DS laughing when he freaked out in the pool.  I also sang wheels on the bus and spun around with him. 

     Hope the rest of your day gets better.

    When introducing the ocean to DD last week she was similar to what you describe. I did it really slowly........first touch the water with my own hands and have her touch the water off of my hands, then let some water drop onto her hands, then get some water on her toes, then put her toes into the water, then her foot, then put water on her legs, then help her stand, let her stand on her own, me move away a little etc etc.

    After 5mins she was smacking the water and throwing it in the air like crazy. She'd fall and get back up and laugh. She had a ball. (just as an idea for your next swim class)

    Sorry about your day so far!! It can really only get better :)
