2nd Trimester

Super Pop

This is the name my dad insists on being called by our daughter.  I really don't think he is going to change his mind either.  I don't care what name he chooses because it's his name so I am fine with whatever but I was hoping for something a little less weird.  My dad has a strange personality so I guess it fits him, oh well.  So if any of you think you have it bad with strange grandparent names, at least you don't have to say "Super Pop" in public, silly.

Re: Super Pop

  • at first i was reading sugar pop, and i was really weirded out. but super pop is pretty strange too!

  • That is too funny.  and maybe since Super would be hard to say for a just-learning-to-speak child, then your daughter will drop the Super and just call him Pop and you can escape this one somehow!!
  • If he want's DD to call him that, it's fine, but I would just call him Pop.  In fact, that's what I call my FIL ever since he picked that name instead of grandpa.  He thinks it's funny that me and the grandkids call him Pop :)

  • I kinda think it's cute and funny.  I'd let Gwen call my dad that if he liked it for the humor in it...
  • I think it's kind of cute. But it might be hard to say and your DD might just make up her own name.

My Dad wanted to be called Pop, and then the oldest of the grandchildren decided that my Dad was his best friend and he could call him Pete but he would get all mixed up and ended up being called "Pop-Pete" which has stuck like glue through the rest of the kids.

  • My friend's father insisted that he will be called Grand-dude!  Everyone told him what his name would become and he didn't listen... now he is known as DoooDoooo!

    That's hilarious!

  • My nieces and nephews distinguish their GPs as "Pap Pap" and "Silly Pap Pap".
  • Awwww...that is kinda silly. Who knows....it could stick! We're going with Papa and Grandpa.
