Motherhood Maternity Outlet???

I'm probably going to an outlet mall tomorrow and they have an MM store there.  But lots of times when I go to outlet malls I find that the prices aren't really that much better than the regular version of that particular store.

So, I was curious if anyone has been to one of MM's outlet stores and if the prices are really that great and if it's worth a trip to the outlets (they have a Carter's outlet there too so I'm probably going no matter what but I was just curious!!  :)

TIA!!

Re: Motherhood Maternity Outlet???

  • Sometimes you can find last years clothing on clearance there really cheap. Most of the time they have the same thing for the same price it seems as the store.

Although I got a pair of jeans and two sweaters for later in the pregnancy for $7 total.

  • I've been to the MM outlet in PA and it wasn't really worth it IMO. They had a few racks of clearance just like the regular stores, and it didn't seem like it was any great shakes.

I did enjoy walking aroudn the Carter's outlet and can recommend it (or at least the one in PA).

    Enjoy!

  • I've been really happy with the MM outlet in our outlet mall.  The selection is sometimes sparse (but other times pretty good) as in most outlet stores.  I actually saw a shirt that I bought at a non outlet MM for 10$ cheaper at the outlet on Tuesday.  I was annoyed that I had already bought it!

As with any outlet, you have to really shop and it's a "luck of the draw" type thing.  I also found plus sizes there where the regular MM didn't have any.  I'm right in between needing that, so it was nice to have the option (though the plus size selection was poor).

  • Hey! We have a Motherhood Maternity Outlet, and the lady that was working the day that I went in explained to me that they have most of the same items that the regular store has...for the same exact prices...BUT, that they do tend to carry more of a sale/clearance section.  So, definitely check them out, but don't be disappointed when you find that most of the in season, in-style cute clothes are regular price Tongue Tied

  • I have a Motherhood outlet near me and had great success there. Not sure how different their prices were from the regular MM stores, but the most expensive thing I bought was a dress for $35. I thought it was a great buy considering it doesn't really look like a mat dress and I'll probably be able to wear it post-pg. Otherwise, their shorts and capris were on sale for $16.99, which were $3 cheaper than Target's, and they had a ton of sale items. I got another dress for a work gala I'm attending in August for $25 - I think it was regularly $50. The salespeople were helpful and not at all pushy, also - I've heard that can be a problem in regular MM stores. Anyway, I'd recommend checking out the outlet. GL!
  • I wouldn't make the trip just for the outlet, but if you're already going, definitely stop in! Especially as they'll probably have sales for the holiday weekend. I found the prices to be similar to the regular store though.

I found that the prices were the same but the selection was a lot better. There were a couple clearance racks in the back too. Love the Carter's outlet too... they have so much to choose from.

  • I know they are having their "Big Sale" event now for July - but I am not sure if it applies to the outlets as well.
  • I just checked out the one in Alabama on Friday.  It was OK...

They had a lot of shirts on clearance, most of which I either didn't like or they didn't have in my size.  I did get one cute shirt for $10 and a pair of shorts for $20 (although they are on sale now at the regular stores for the same price).

It was a little disappointing but now I know and I'm glad I went to take a look.

  • I went to the one in CT and it was the same prices, same stuff (just a little bit bigger) than the one in our usual malls. And horribly understaffed. And a mess because it was understaffed.

Honestly most of the outlet malls these days don't have really good sales at all, I find. I remember driving up to maine with my parents in the summer, stocking up on school clothes-and then it was great! (back in the early 90s). now, its just another mall..

  • Yeah, I kinda figured it would be similar to regular store prices.....but I will hope for a good Clearance Rack!!! Thanks for all the input ladies!

  • I had the same experience as previous posters--same selection and prices, though maybe a larger clearance selection.  I was a bit happy that only one person was working--it meant they didn't offer me a bunch of stuff I didn't want.

  • There's a MM outlet near me in Kittery, ME and I've been several times. ?The prices are the same. ?In fact, I go over to NH to the MM at the mall and it ends up cheaper without sales tax.

GL though - you never know what you'll find in the clearance section and your outlet may be better than this one.

Carters Outlet is awesome - we have one of those here too!?

  • I used to work for Motherhood so I can tell you for a fact that the only difference with an Outlet version is that they have racks of "as is" clearence stuff from all of the branches of Motherswork Inc- Pea in the Pod, Mimi and Motherhood.  Corporated sets the prices for all of the stores and so you will find the same prices at every store.  They also change the prices CONSTANTLY up or down so that probably explains why you find price differences at different stores- just different days.  (Yeah, it sucks!)  Have fun anyway- you never know what kind of deals you'll find!  =)
  • I was really happy with the outlet. They had a much larger plus section than the store at our mall. They also had a much larger clearance section.

    Thanks for the "insider tip"!!

  • Same experience as others with the Motherhood Outlet but I did want to let you know I got adorable sleepers at the Carters Outlet for $3.99 each! Awesome!
