Cramping

I've been having constant cramping (pretty painful) for the past 2 days now and last night my back was absolutely killing me.  My stomach is tightening up a ton but I can't seem to time them because it is more constant than anything else.  I'm going to call the doctor here this morning because something doesn't feel right but just wondering if any of you experienced this before?  Thanks!

Re: Cramping

  • It sounds a little like Braxton Hicks...but may be real contractions starting. I'd definitely call your doc. I never really had any Braxton Hicks. My contractions started and never stopped, hence me needing a c-section.

  • Do you know how your little guy is positioned? I think I remember hearing that if their head is facing the opposite way it's supposed to it can cause major backaches.

I would call your doctor just to be safe. They'll probably bring you in for a non-stress test.

  • Lesli, having not gone through anything like you are since I delivered at 34 weeks, I just want to let you know I'm thinking of you.  Call your doctor and try and relax (I know its hard).  Please keep us upated.

  • I didnt haven anything like that, but one of my friends who is due at the end of August was having something similar and her dr said it was normal.  Defitinitly give them a call and make sure.  I'll be thinking of you, please keep us posted.
  • Thanks ladies!!  I have a call into my doctors office so I should hear back from them shortly.  At my last appt (on Fri.) my dr. said his head is down but I'm not sure if he is facing toward my stomach or toward my back.  I'm just worried because I have a VERY high tolerance for pain but this cramping is pretty severe and the back pain last night was extremely sharp.  I hope to hear from them soon...I'll let you all know what happens.  Thanks again for the support!
  • **update**

The on call doctor seems to think this is all normal and I am to call back if the cramping/contractions start to develop a pattern and are timeable.  I guess I just need to relax but its so hard to know whats going on when you never been through it before.  Thanks again!

  • Hi Lesli, I am late responding but I am glad the dr thinks its normal and I hope the pain lets up so you have some relief.

  • I hope you get some relief soon and that all is well. Thinking of you!
  • I know I'm late too, but I had something kinda like that about a week before I delivered Eli. ?It actually started during my childbirth class and as she was describing labor contractions, i was like, holy crap, thats what my contractions feel like! ?It happened for a day or two where I was really uncomfortable and had the cramping and back pain, then, it stopped and I felt nothing for a week. ?When I had my appointment with the doctor, they said I was 2cm dilated and all the cramping and stuff is what helped dilate me. ?The contraction stuff started on a Saturday, lasted until Sunday, went to the doctor on Tuesday, then my water broke on Friday. ?Maybe this means that your labor will be starting soon? ?I was 36 and a half weeks when I had him!
  • I had the same thing happen to me.  Glad the doctor was able to ease your fears and I hope you get some relief soon!

  • I hope you find relief soon (one way or another!), Those last couple weeks can be so uncomfortable!  I didn't have pain, but lots of numbness when I'd lay on my side. It was really annoying!

    The nursery looks great! Smile
