When you hear the name Riley do you think boy or girl first?
DH and I love the name for a girl. DH also loves it for a boy and thinks we should name the baby Riley either way. I think it sounds like a girls name and I worry if he is in a class with other girl Riley's he will get teased. What do you think? Am I overthinking it since I do like the name?
It would be Riley Anne if a girl (my middle name is Anne) and Riley James if a boy (James is FIL's name).
Re: Name question...
My niece is Riley and I have a nephew named Rylyn.
~ Miscarry at 8 weeks with D&C in May 2011 (low progesterone).
~ Had a healthy baby girl in June 2012 via C-Section (on prometrium to sustain).
~ Surprise pregnancy at age 40! Baby boy due April 26, 2021 (took prometrium to sustain once pregnancy was confirmed, 3rd C-Section planned).

My DH loves the name Rylee Victoria for a girl, but we hear its popular for a boy too. I am a teacher and I think you run the risk of kids teasing kids no matter what the name - my name is Vicki and you would not believe the number of words that rhyme with Vicki! lol, kids will be cruel no matter what! I worry more about my son/daughter going for an interview, what will their future boss think? haha, good luck though!
PS... the middle names you chose are perfect for either boy/girl!
My husband and I love the name too. Before we even started thinking about babies, we talked about it and I asked his brother in law for an outside opinion and he said it does sound girly. That is just his opinion of course. BUT it is originally a boy name apparently and I did know a little boy named Riley. But also I knew a little girl with the name too.
I prefer it for a girl. Riley Anne is very cute and I love that she would have your middle name. That makes it extra special!
I think of that too! haha (What boss might think) I told my DH that the good thing about a girl named Riley would be that when someone is looking over resumes, they won't know if she is a man or a woman and so that might cut out any preconceived notions and might help get her closer to an interview!
Girl, but that's because all of the Rileys I've met have been girls.
Just as side note... gender neutral names can be tough. My husband's name is Jody and we have a hard time with it.
I think of a girl
I know a friend's daughter named Riley
I have a friend whose daughters name is Ryli, I've always liked the way she spelled it.
The first Riley I knew (actually dated) was a guy. I also know a little boy named Riley, a little girl named Rylee and a dog named Riley. I think it's pretty versatile! ;-)
I think it works either way. I have 2 different friends who named their babies Riley... one is a boy and the other is a girl.
It's kind of like the names Taylor and Kelly, I know both men and women with these names.
I know a Riley who is a boy (ironically his name is James Riley, but he goes by Riley) and I know a little girl named Riley, they both go to the same school. Neither of them are teased about their names.
Personally I love the name Riley for a boy or girl and am trying to convince my fiance that we really want to name the baby Riley regardless of gender, but my dearest thinks it sounds like a boys name.
Good luck!
