have you taken your baby to a movie theater?

i saw sixres mention taking her LO to a movie and nursing him there.  i also saw it suggested on kellymom.  i would loooooove to go to a movie, omg... but obv the logistics are a little different with twins.  still... i bet i could wear DD and nurse her if needed and DS could nurse at the same time, otherwise DH could hold him... idk.  it seems CRAZY to me, but, idk.  have you done it?  what about the volume/overstimulation factors?  and did you get a lot of dirty looks?

TIA :)

  • Lost of theatres have a "mommy" day where the movie is turned down a little and the lights are left on a little.

There are ususally kids and moms there, prob no dirty looks. Call around and ask about it.

  • The one movie theater by us has a 'mommy and baby' showing that is mid -afternoon. They turn the sound down some, keep the lights on a bit, etc.

  • i did not realize they they offer a mommy and baby... thank you! Im gonna call too! i did go to the movies with my LO during the day. we went into the movie just as the lights were down. she nursed and slept the entire time. the sound did not seem to bother her. no dirty looks because i dont think anyone even knew she was there....
  • boo - i just called every movie theater within 20 miles and none of them do this.  ah well.  maybe i'll still try to bring them to an early daytime movie when there won't be many people there... we'll see.

  • I personally would not take my baby to a movie theater.
  • I've taken her to 4 "mommy movies" and one regular movie (17 Again, ona weekday, there was only one other lady in the theater)...she did great every time.

  • I definitely would have taken my son to the movies with me when i was on maternity leave.  I would have gone to an early showing on a week day!!  I know the theater would have been empty.  I did not do this, however, because it was winter time and I just never got around to it. I will def do it next time.
