I failed. :-(

My 1-hr test. They told me they would call yesterday if I failed, so when I didn't hear from them, I thought I was in the clear. Dirty, dirty trick.

I only eat sugary things maybe once or twice a month. I only eat whole-wheat bread, and infrequently at that. I try to stick to whole-wheat pasta and brown rice. I don't drink sodas. I do eat cereal many mornings (like smart start with a banana), and I eat a lot of fruit. Is that bad?

I'm bummed. Sad

Dear Bump: You suck.

Re: I failed. :-(

  • Don't start jumping to conclusions just yet, I think there are quite a few that fail the 1 hour and do just fine on the 3 hour. ?I was one of those! ?Take care, Kristen

  • It's not what you eat, it's how your body processes things as it's growing a new person.  You either have GD or you don't.  What you eat isn't going to affect it that much.  FWIW, I have a higher chance of getting GD (and regular D as well) due to my infertility issue and genetics, I failed the one hour by a ton, and I ended up passing the three hour (failed hour one, but passed hours 2 and 3).   You may very well pass the three hour with flying colors.  I'll keep my fingers crossed that you do.

Exactly.  Please try not to be too bummed (I know, easier said than done).  The 3-hour test might yield better results.  Best of luck!

This!  I can't stand how they make people feel bad if you end up with GD.  It's just hormones and you are growing another person, things happen.  You could be the skinniest healthiest person in the world and end up with GD.  It's just luck of the draw I'm afraid.

And you could pass the 3 hour one with no issues.  Don't let it get you down.  (hugs)

  • Sorry, but it still might work out for you.  Also, as pper's said, it has nothing to do with your normal habits (it's just a pg thing), but altering those habits can help manage GD after you've been diagnosed.  If you do end up with GD, the changes won't be hard for you because you already eat so well.  Good luck!

Double this!  You still have one more test to go.  And IF (big IF) you "out score" (I hate the word "fail". You didn't fail. You just scored above the cut-off.) the 3-hour test, then you go on to your next steps.

I'm glad everyone already said this to make you feel better. It's true! You haven't done anything wrong to make this happen. Many people get a clean bill of health on the 3 hour. I hope you make it, but if not  - keep in mind that GD is very temporary and if you already eat good, it won't impact all that much anyway!

  • I failed the 1 Hour and PASSED the 3 Hour with flying colors.  Best of luck to ya!
  • I failed my one hour by a lot when I was pg with Rhett, but passed my 3 hour (failed one of 3). You could definitely still be fine! And ditto pps on not feeling like you've done something wrong. I am much more likely to have GD with twins, have had close to zero willpower for stuff like sodas and ice cream - when I never drank sodas before - and passed my one hour this time. Doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to it!

  • Agree with everyone else- you're not doing anything wrong! Good luck on the 3 hour.
  • I failed my one-hour and three-hour tests. Boo! But just wanted to let you know that the three-hour test isn't that bad at all. Just bring a good book! :)

  • I failed the 1 hour and was 4 points away from being automatically diagnosed with GD.  (I scored a 196.)  My OB said we'd go ahead w/ the three hour but she did not think I would pass. But - I did. So - the 3 hours sucks, but you've definitely got a good chance for passing the 3 hour.
  • I'm sorry about your test K. Like all the women posted above, I'm sure you will be fine for the three-hour test. AND if not, you are the most determined and dedicated person I know and will be able to adhere to any regiment they assign you. Your little girl is lucky to have a Mom like you who will stop at nothing to ensure her good health! Hang in there and let me know if there is anything I can do!
  • I failed my one hour with dd and, like you, I was totally surprised!! However, I passed my three hour with flying colors. I was really mad about doing the stupid diet and then the three hour test, but, I was thankful everything was fine.

  • Boo! I'm sorry.?

But here's to hoping you soar through the 3 hour with flying colors! :)

And like everyone else said - it was nothing you did! Don't fault yourself, you have taken very good care of little Alina! You should be proud of yourself!?
