3rd Trimester

OB vent

Normally I see the the midwives at my practice (they are not nearly as rushed compared to the DRs).  Unfortunately all of the MW were booked so I set the appt for one of the Drs.  She waddles in an hour and fifteen minutes after my 11:30 appointment (came in smelling like Italian food).  I was starving when she came in and a little cranky I might add.  OK so she says I did great on my 1 hour glucose (102 woo hoo), I'm doing wonderful with my weight and am measuring right on schedule.  Awesome, right?  Then she asks if I'm exercising,  I'm a massage therapist (a very physical job) and I walk every day.  She gives me a dirty look and says if I don't start soon I will have a very difficult labor and end up w/ a c section.  Granted I know I should be excising more but you and your fat arse sure as hell doesn't need to tell me to work out whith that kind of attitude.  WTF, not cool at all.  She should know w/ the hormones I have flying about there is no telling me what to do, ask DH.  All done thanks!

What a thing to say, if you don't excercise you'll end up having a c-section. That's not even true!! What a beotch!

I would complain to your midwife or someone else. That is an outrageous statement and she is doing not only you but her practice a huge disservice by alienating patients!

  • Although the way that she said it wasn't the nicest (or even the most factual), there is truth to the theory that women who work out are more physically prepared for labor.  She should be encouraging you to work out rather than trying to bully you into it with over exaggerations.  There are much more positive ways to get people to understand your meaning.
