10 month old and not crawling

Does anyone have a 10month old that does not crawl?  My son will be 10 months next week and does not crawl or hold his bottle.  I used to just laugh and say it must be a boy thing-- but now Im just getting worried.  I aslo have 2 girls and they walked at 10 and 11 months.  My son is on the 'bigger side' so Im wondering if that might have something to do with it.

Re: 10 month old and not crawling

  • Some just don't crawl. My sis never did, a coworker's DS just started & today is his birthday.  And my DD never wanted to hold a bottle.  If you're really worried you can always call the pede but for now, I'm thinking wait a while & see what happens.

  • A friend of mines daughter was not crawling at 10 mnths..  I thought it to be a bit alarming but she did research and some just take longer than others.  She just turned a year and is almost walking now! He'll be fine
  • My very on the big side son didn't crawl until just after 10 months.  He was doing lots of things just fine, including pulling up.  We thought he was going to skip crawling, but he didn't.  He also didn't walk until about 14 months.

My daughter (who crawled at 9 and walked at a year) never wanted to hold her own bottle - even at 13 months before she got off them entirely.

  • I agree some just never crawl. My DD skipped it and walked at 11 mos.

  • Kate did not crawl until 10.5 months, pulled up at 14 months, and walked at 18 months.  She's fine, she's just always been on the slow/late side for gross motor stuff (still is...she's a little over 2 and still doesn't do stairs well).
  • My son was a late crawler (10.5 months) and also a late walker (15.5 months).  You would never guess it by looking at him run now!  My son was also a peanut, by no means on the bigger side.

  • Does he army crawl? DS army crawled forever. He didn't get up on his hands and knees until around 12 months old and didn't actually walk until he was 14.5 months old.
  • DS just started crawling at about 11 and 1/2 months.  We thought he was going to skip it since he had started cruising.  He still seems to not like crawling and only uses it to get to a toy that he wants.  He is a big boy and the pedi said it is harder for big kids to get moving.

  • Some kids don't crawl at all. Both DH and I never crawled (as per my mom and IL's).

DS1 crawled at 8.5 months old and walked by 11 months old all by himself.

DS2 finally learned to sit up by himself at 9.5 months old, crawled at 10.5 months old and walked at 13 months old.

both of my boys were/are around 28 lbs at 12 months.....   so both are/were big.

What does the dr say? are they worried?
