Hi ladies- I am getting conflicting info about antral follicles. My RE doesn't do these and only relies on FSH and AMH. Those numbers are fine for me but I was still a poor responder on my first IVF which got cancelled.

I am wondering what is considered a normal count and if any of you could tell me what yours was. I am also curious if you could end up with more follicles in a cycle than what your antral count was. TIA!

    I always got more then what they saw at baseline for AF count, not many more but more. I am a poor responder with a perfectly fine FSH level for my age, I got between 5 -11 follicles at each ER with antagonist protocols and max dose of stims (650iu my last cycle).

    Usually they saw about 4 -5 AF to start with.

    A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
    After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
    My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

    Hi ,

    According to my doc anything less than 10 in ea ovary was considered low. But that was before I went to Cornell.  In the end I always had/retreived more than they thought I had.

    This last cycle which was my BFP cycle I only had 10 antrals.  I was on gonal-f (150 units/day for 4 days then 125 units/day for 2 days).  When I triggered I had 4 mature follicles with my lining at 9.8.  I am diagnosed with eleveated FSH (I'm 34 and my FSH on average has been around 14).  Good luck with everything.

     I forgot to mention I was not stimming for IVF only IUI...

    I think mine was 26 and it was pretty close to what they retrieved with IVF number 1.  They never wanted to give me a count, but I think that is what they counted before starting stims.  They retrieved 30, 21 were mature, 18 fertilized and I only had 4 blasts to use (day5/6) for IVF #1 and FET #1.  I might have had more 'usable' ones if 1) my RE wasnt so particular with HIGH quality and 2) if they didn't let them all grow to past 5 days.

    I had to do ICSI which my RE likes the follicles to be bigger before triggering.  I haven't heard that a lot on here, but I know that was the case with me and my friend who have the same RE.  They wanted 20 or 21cm (cm or mm??) in size.

    They usually saw about 8 or 9 and always found 1 or 2 extra.  Our BFP cycle they said AFC was 8 and they retrieved 11, GL to you!!

    I have high FSH and my AFC was usually around 7 or 8 (total on both ovaries). I got pg on IUI #3.
