Oh yeah, DH couldn't escape fast enough when I had an internal at the first doctors appointment. It was pretty funny watching him squirm just talking about it.
I figure if DH is going to be there when the baby is coming out, this wouldn't bother him. Plus, I had the gown covering me so he wasn't really watching anything.
I've had 4 so far, and DH has seen every one of them. 3 were in the hospital, and when my parents came to visit, he ran out to tell them that it looked like the doctor's arm had been in my up to his elbow. He gets a kick out of it. I agree though - he put the kid in there, no reason he needs to get out of seeing all of this stuff at the end!
My DH just stands at the head of the bed and holds my hand during crotch exams. He doesn't want to see the show, nor do I want him to (I don't want to see it myself,) but I'll be damned if he's not going to at least be in the room with me.
Contemplating the snow.

Ha! DH has only been to appointments that involved ultrasounds. Otherwise I see it as kind of pointless for him to go.
This. No reason for him to stand there and watch this. Watching our LO be born is so different than watching an internal exam IMO. He doesn't come to my yearly pap's so I don't think he really needs to watch the internals.
Re: First internal combined with GBS...

Lol - I don't really want him watching the actual L&D process either. I just want him there to hold my hand and say mildly nice things.
Exactly this. DH and I are both anti-mirror during labor though.
