CRIB QUESTION

My mom agreed to buy a crib for us which is very generous of her and I am very excited. We found one on JCP.com which is basically half off. My mom went to purchase it, the shipping and tax were outrageous. She will still buy it for us, but we are continuing to look, I don't want to be greedy. My question is, where did you ladies get your cribs????? I realize that the crib will have to be shipped to whatever store, but how much is too much for shipping??

We got our crib from Cribs 2 Bunks in Tukwila. They had a great selection. I'd also recommend the Baby Bargains book...they do a great job of rating cribs.

Can they ship it to your local JCPenny and then you pick it up there? Sometimes that will save you a ton instead of shipping to your house.

We purchased our crib from JC Penny's and chose to have it shipped to the store instead of our home because the offered 50% off shipping to do that. Shipping was $50, tax was around $40.

Oh - that was for the crib, the rails to make it a full bed, and the changing table.

shipping is about 65 bucks and that's to the store, it's over 100 if we want it at our house, on top of that tax is almost 40 bucks. My husband figured out that Target was even more. Just crazy to me that they charge shipping to their own store! My mom can and will pay it, I think it's the prinicpal of the matter for her.

I initially was going to go with Craig's List because I'm all about thrifty (most of the time), but there were quite a few recalls during the time we were looking, so we just said forget it and went with new from Babies R Us. It was about the cheapest place to find a non-drop side crib that wasn't white. I say skip paying for shipping, unless the total price with S&H is equal to a store bought crib.

Amazon has a pretty decent crib selection now and free shipping if it's sold by Amazon (and not a third party).

I bought my dd's crib from Go to your Room in Bellevue https://www.gotoyourroom.com. When we got our set delivered I remembered assembly was really cheap, like $15 or $25. Well worth it since it was hard for me to help dh with anything heavy during pregnancy. They were in and out within an hour at most with all the furniture set up in the room the way I wanted it.
