Would you do cold turkey?

I feel like the time is nigh..    but I just have your regular run of the mill guilt about it! He chugs a water sippy, but milk is still iffy from a sippy cup. But I've penciled in this weekend to do cold turkey. Simply bc it's the FIRST and LAST wkd for a while that we have nothing planned. I am betting and counting on him forgoing milk for a while because of this...  but he does get plenty of yogurt and cheese. I know I should just shut up and do it, but I just feel bad. He's so cute when I come in after his nap/morning time and he's jumping up in his crib signing milk over and over...  he doesn't do that with a sippy! Guuuuuuilt!!!!!!!

  • I don't know either. Just saying I'm in same boat. DD will not take any milk from a sippy (maybe 1 oz.), but will chug it from a bottle. Thinking about retrying in another month. Good luck.

  • I did cold turkey. I just offered it a ton and was patient. The first day she probably drank 1/2 a serving of milk the whole day. The second day she woke up and drank like a pro and we haven't looked back. It worked great for us! I would do it all over again. One day of worrying for the months of how easy it is without a bottle I love it!

I think it's personal preference.  I don't do anything cold turkey.  I just kept offering milk sippies and eventually around 16 months she started to take it.  I also heated the milk sippies and gradually went to cold.  We are now down to the evening bottle and eventually we'll go every other day with that until it's gone.  Good luck!  Cold turkey works too!
