2nd Trimester

2nd + moms

We are going to find out the gender (hopefully) but recently I've realized there may be several things we should get in neutral colors so they can be reused for baby #2 in the future.

Have / will you reuse the bedding & room decore? What would you recommend keeping neutral?

Re: 2nd + moms

  • We won't reuse the bedding/decor mainly because DS is still in his room & crib.?

I would keep the stroller/car seat neutral for sure. That would be the main thing. The rest of your stuff basically stays in your house so if it doesn't bother you that it is one specific gender then who cares (like the swing, bouncer, etc.)

  • How many bedrooms do you have?  We only have two so DD and this LO will share.  For that reason we painted neutral colors in the room.  We also did a neutral swing, pnp, car seat...all that kind of major stuff that you aren't going to want to re-purchase for a different gender.

  • we are reusing all of the bedding and the crib and for that matter the nursery!   we went with yellow walls and a dog theme-think labs, golden retrievers as that is what we have.   bedding we had fitted sheets mainly-yellow, green, white, alphabet pattern and teddy bear pattern.   Curtains are yellow.

will reuse what we can.   way more fun currently to shop for the "big sister" room-new bedding, new curtains, new bed for her.

Three, but one was made into a loft (no more wall or door). We don't want anything permanent on the walls that is too childish, because we hope to sell before #2. If need be we can put a wall up, but I'd prefer to move into something a bit larger by then.

  • We didn't find out what we were havign the first time.  So everything is neutral.  I think nuetral colors for bedding, travel system, pack & play, high chair, swings, car seats, and other big items are best if you plan on having other children.  We're reusing the bedding that DD had for this one.  It is definately a money saver down the road.

  • We aren't reusing the bedding because DS is still in his crib. Every other big item is neutral- bouncer, swing, jumperoo/ exersaucer thing, highchair, stroller, car seat, pack and play, bassinet, pretty much everything but clothes and bedding were gender neutral now that I think about it. It has definitely made shopping a lot easier this time to already have most of it all!

  • We aren't reusing the bedding bc it fits on the toddler bed. We are reusing carriers, strollers, carseats, etc.
  • Get clothing, burp clothes, passies, etc in gender specific colors - all the things that are fairly inexpensive to replace... all other things - gender neutral is the way to go!
  • This is our third and we haven't found out with any of ours what the sex was before delivery so all of our "big" items are gender neutral and will be used again this time.  (bedding, stroller, swing, etc....)
  • Things we bought neutral that will be re-used:  stroller, car seat, swing, bouncer, bassinet, glider, toys galore, highchair, exersaucer, umbrella stroller, diaper bag (it's actually a purse that I converted to use as a diaper bag, shopping cart cover (that I never used), playmat.

DS' bedding is also relativley neutral (primary colors in a plaid and striped pattern - PBK Laguna) but we will not use it for DD b/c I still love it so much and it fits so well with DS decor.

Basically, the only thing that we bought that was gender specific were clothes, crib sheets (sharks, blue, blue checked), and changing pad cover (dark blue, light blue).
